chokmah33 (78), Bremerton, Washington, USA Apr 27, 2008 Chocolate, raisin, dark roasted malt aroma. Sweet + fruity taste, mild malty back with some floral hops.
Chocolate texture. bitbucket (1447), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 12, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear dark brown with a lacy tan head. Sweet chocolate, roasty malt and coffee aroma. Creamy medium body and light carbonation. Sweet, nutty chocolate taste. Bittersweet finish. Ibrew2or3 (1566), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2007 Growler from brewpub. Pours deep deep dark amber with nice mocha head and sheet lacing. The aroma has an initial burst of burnt malts. Quickly a mild malt sweetness coupled with chocolate malts intervenes for a moment before an earthy note mixes with the burnt malts to create a cigar ash sensation. Interesting. The taste begins like the aroma with solid burnt malts, charred malts and mild chocolate malts. About midway I get a mild vague fruitiness mixed with a mineral sense that seems a bit out of place. It ends with a load of burnt malts that run deep into the after taste. Quake1028 (624), Tampa, Florida, USA Nov 17, 2007 Growler courtesy of Ibrew2or3. Thanks a ton, Dave. Dark brown pour with very nice looking red highlights. Small brown head that doesn’t stay around for too long, but leaves some nice lacing. Nose of burnt malts, dark fruits, roasted coffee beans, bitter dark chocolate, tobacco leaves and ash. Flavor is very similar, heavy on the roast and also a very odd metallic twang at the end of the swallow. Medium bodied, perfect for the style. Finish is a little thin at the end, but has some nice roast components. Pretty lengthy as well. Overall the metallic bite really takes away from the beer overall, but it’s still a pretty solid Porter.
