Retorp (2148), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 Gorwler courtesy of Ibrew2or3. The aroma is a nice blend of coffee, chocolate, tobacco tea and ample roast notes. A little different smelling, but intriguing. The body is dark brown to black and holds a diminishing mocha head. The fore is fairly roast bitter with coffee and chocolate notes and again some tobacco. There is a mineral water like note toward the finish that is off putting. Also has some mild ash and smokiness in the finish. Despite a few off flavor points I find myself rather enjoying it. SuzyGreenberg (799), Seattle, Washington, USA May 16, 2008 draft @ brewery - jet black with cream head; smooth and roasty; light bodied with a dry finish; chocolate and roasty profiles are on the mild side; t drinks like a nice, creamy porter just not much there flavor wise bitbucket (1477), Kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 12, 2007 On tap at the brewpub. Pours clear dark brown with a lacy tan head. Sweet chocolate, roasty malt and coffee aroma. Creamy medium body and light carbonation. Sweet, nutty chocolate taste. Bittersweet finish. Ibrew2or3 (1613), Safety Harbor, Florida, USA Nov 28, 2007 Growler from brewpub. Pours deep deep dark amber with nice mocha head and sheet lacing. The aroma has an initial burst of burnt malts. Quickly a mild malt sweetness coupled with chocolate malts intervenes for a moment before an earthy note mixes with the burnt malts to create a cigar ash sensation. Interesting. The taste begins like the aroma with solid burnt malts, charred malts and mild chocolate malts. About midway I get a mild vague fruitiness mixed with a mineral sense that seems a bit out of place. It ends with a load of burnt malts that run deep into the after taste.
