3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Papsoe (22985) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - MAR 3, 2009
Bottle 33 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Pours a hazy reddish brown with an off-white head. Tart, woody smoked aroma. Lightly watery with tart woody accents, low in carbonation with a hint of smoke. It’s probably not intentional but somehow it reminds me of a Flemish Red and it’s quite interesting. An infection that ended well I presume. 190209

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 1/5 OVERALL 12/20 nicholai (100) - Helsinki, FINLAND - MAY 13, 2005
This beers pours orange and hazy, but right away I noticed that it didn’t form much head and the cork sort of fizzled out. The smell is very nice, with a rich leather and oak tones. Unfortunately, on tasting, it was waay undercarbonated. I might have kept it a bit too long, it got forgotten... The taste that I can decipher is quite pleasant, a light citrusy sweetness with no bitterness whatsoever. I will seek this one out again for a second chance.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - OCT 3, 2004
Sampled at Le Sois Bock in Paris, France.
Dark Red.
Heavily aromatic with notes of chocolate, nuts, plums, figs and sugars.
Moderate tartness. The dryness on the palate and the wood and sherry notes leave me to believe that this beer could have been aged in oak. Notes of plums and cherries among other things. Lingering and very enjoyable.
