Bottle courtesy of hopdog. Pours murky brown with a small but persistent head. Aroma of wheat and brown sugar. Taste is malt and bitterness. A little thin, but tasty.

Picked up a 12-oz bottle at Bottleworks in Seattle, Washington during the summer of 2007. Pours a dark semi-clear reddish amber brew with a thick off-white head that has some good retention a some sticky lacing. Aroma of sweetened caramel malt, with characters of raisin, yeast and a touch of dark pitted dried fruit. Taste is medium to full bodied, some carbonation with a sweet flavor of raisin, some yeast, light caramel malt and a touch of nutmeg. Finish is semi-sweet with a dry raisin and caramel flavor. The extra alcohol is a nice touch.

Bottle from Bottleworks in Seattle. I seem to recall this being very cheap. Pours a deep amber red with a diminishing off white head. Aroma is malty, with some yeast, cookie, and dark fruit in the background- but weak for a barleywine and barely scores a 7. Medium bodied with average carbonation, but more British in maltiness. Flavor of caramel, wet grains, and raisen that has an herbal bitterness mid palate. Finish is mildy sweet with some pepper and alcohol. Lingering yeastiness on the palate. Not bad for the price, but Bigfoot is more enjoyable to me in this price range.

AmEricanbrew (4123) - roam, Louisiana, USA - JAN 9, 2008
12 oz. bottle. Has a dark amber - reddish hue. The slight white head fades quickly. Smells bready, yeasty, with raisons. Medium bodied, lightly carbonated with a smooth mouthfeel, very nice. Malty flavors of dried figs, raisons predominate. Finishes with a sweet alcohol taste on the breath. Very smooth and easy drinking for a 10% Barleywine. Jan 2004

(12oz bottle) Purchased at Whole Foods in Seattle for an AMAZING $1.99! Pours a lasting foamy white head with a deep red body. Nose is malty and yeasty. Good malt flavour. How did they make this for so cheap?

Thanks BrewDad for the bottle. Deep brown with red highlights pour into a snifter. Deep caramel and toffee aroma with an off white creamy head. nutmeg, cinnamon, a bit of clove, nice sweetness, with just enough bitterness to round it out. Dry on the tongue after the swallow. Not a huge barley wine fan, but it was good on this cold night.

pour is a reddish-brown with a medium size foamy egg-shell head, nice lacing. smell is of dark fruit, alcohol at first then this fades away as you become use to it, some citrus, nutmeg, toffee in the background. taste is of dark fruit, spice, malt, sticky on the lips, dry in the mouth, bitter in the end.

12 oz bottle. Pours orange-brown with beige head. The aroma is leathery and malty, with some licorice and caramel in there. The flavor is malt and some odd spicy yeast notes. There’s quite a bit of brown sugar, and a strange syrupy orange note. Not particularly good, but ok.
