Dicks Barley Wine

Draught at Rose and Raindrop, Portland. Hazy reddish brown. Butterscotch aroma. Sweet and softly malty. The nouthfeel is chewy rather than sticky and there is plenty of mature well developed malt flavours.There is some grapefruity hops, but the malt dominates. A nice, warming beer.

Dark amber colour. Slight toffee aroma with hints of soft, light, chewy caramel. There’s a bit of brown sugar to round things off. Quite sweet and without enough complexity to keep me interested.

muddy brown, scant head, rich ripe fruit aroma with dates and raison, big creamy body, lots of rich ripe fruit flavor, chewy chocolate character, light bitterness

(bottle) Clear brown body with tan head. Aroma is medium sweet, raisin/prune, cinnamon. Taste is sweet, cinnamon, prune/raisin, alcohol. Full body. The cinnamon just doesn’t do it for me.

Bottled (thanks kenb!). Hazy dark amber colour with small off-white head. Aroma is malts, alcohol and American hops. Flavour is very wineous, but has a huge hayish hoppy dry finish.
