I like the way this looks, a deep reddish amber body with a respectable beige head. The aroma has caramel, toast, juicy fruits, pine, and grapefruit. All are nicely blended along with a quiet input from the alcohol. The hoppy bitterness builds as the drinking progresses and balances well with the malty sweetness. It finishes on a moderately bitter note with a low alcohol burn. Nice.

Courtesy of Kenb, old notes. Mahogany with ring of bubbles for head. Huge caramel and toffee up front, fruity esters in the background. Flavor much the same with plenty of c-hops still evident, enough to balance. Decent overall.

Bought @ Steilacoom WIne and Brew. This barley wine is brewed year round which is a HUGE plus to barley wine fans... For the price this is one of the best BW out there. A good amount of hops balanced with a good amount of malts, and @ 10.5% it is a lovely addition my evening!

ark amber with a small off white head. Aroma is strong malts and toffee. Flavor is heavy caramel with a bit of hops to back it up. Some toffee and grapes as well. Finishes a tad syrupy, just how I like em.

Thanks BrewDad for the bottle. Deep brown with red highlights pour into a snifter. Deep caramel and toffee aroma with an off white creamy head. nutmeg, cinnamon, a bit of clove, nice sweetness, with just enough bitterness to round it out. Dry on the tongue after the swallow. Not a huge barley wine fan, but it was good on this cold night.

Bottle served in a snifter. Pours clear but thick, dark brown with amber hues. The head didn’t want to happen and didn’t last long. Classic malty barley wine aroma. Honey soaked dates, nuts, and a hint of heat with a rich, flavor profile to match. Full body, very creamy texture, decent carbonation. Finishes very sweet, then nutty, then bitter, hot, sticky, dry and almost astringent. Delicious. The best Dick’s beer I’ve had.

#561 on my beerwall. Nice light brown color. Very sweet aroma that smells just as it tastes. Very rich malty taste with a a little hops to balance it out. I’m really impressed with the way they hide the 10%. Although doesn’t taste much like a regular barley wine, this may be due to the hiding of the alcohol, it does make a great beer.

Bottle pours opaque amber brown with a creamy light tan head that has nice retention. Aroma of dark fruit, molasses, some dough. Taste is nice, some roast malt bitterness along with hop bitterness, a substantially thick malt body, lots of dark fruit again, mostly raisin. A light amount of soy in the aroma and taste adds to the dynamic nature of the beer. I really was not expecting much from this beer, but it’s very pleasant.

Another big thanks to bitbucket! Pours an awesome slightly hazy crimson/ruby color with a centimeter of off white head Smells very good, sweet malts, some hops, and apricots Taste – another barleywine whose taste doesn’t live up to the smell for me. It’s sweet, hoppy, but there’s some flavor that just doesn’t work for me, I can’t figure out how to describe it. Mouthfeel- sticky and thick, good Overall this barleywine looks and smells like heaven, but then the taste is more terrestrial.

Deep red with a small tan head that fades fast. Light on aroma but what’s there is caramel, fruits and molasses. Strong malt presence with a lingering hop bitterness.
