COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden colored, crisp, high alcohol Belgian-style ale. Simple ingredients lead to a very complex beer in this case. Northwest two-row malt is mashed without the addition of specialty malts for a light, golden color. The wort is lightly hopped in the kettle for minimum bitterness and imported Saaz hops give the beer a subtle, noble hop flavor and aroma.

12 oz Bottle: Nice golden color, very carbonated. Aroma is banana and clove. Flavor is super yeasty and somewhat fruity. Some alcohol hotness. Seems stronger than 9%. Strange medicinal flavor on the finish. Gave me a headache, for whatever reason. Average.

Pours amber with a finger of head. Smells figgy. Rich and a bit of caramel. Taste is rich, but obviously not Belgium. Yeast is present. Fruity and estery. Bit waxy. Bit of a dry, bitter after taste. Not bad for the price.

A lightly sweet, lightly bready, balanced phenolic, spice, and light fruit/raisin, tripel. What struck me most was how middle of the road the yeast was for a Belgian, it had a little bit of everything, and was still very apparent. Good, appetizing. More grain for a tripel then I really would have expected, medium body too. In the vein of leffe blonde.

Bottle served in a tulip. Pours watery clear orange. Short head, minimal lace. Aroma of yeast, bubblegum, and citrus. Later its light spice, apricots, alcohol, honey, and menthol-medicinal. Syrupy sweet and yeasty flavor. Medium body, thick creamy texture, soft carbonation, and a sticky dry finish. Gets more complex as it warms, especially on the nose. A little too sweet on the palate for me.

UPDATED: SEP 7, 2011 Color: golden. Do we care? Fairly typical Belgian triple. Not bad really, but there is an odd finish that I can’t quite describe. Wet cardboard, or is it the yeast. Overall, it’s ok, slightly different, but not one I would come back to. Sorry, Dicks. I love you, but this one needs a bit work.

Shipped to me by my wife on a trip to Portland. Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a very cloudy golden color with a large foamy yellow-white head that lingered and left good lacing. The aroma was apricot, honey, bread and clove. The flavor was sweet candied apricots and pears with notes of bread, sugar, plum, clove and honey. Rich and full of flavor this one really impressed me. The finish was long, sweet and fruity with bread and alcohol lingering. Thick and full bodied. Wonderful.

Location: Bottle at Max and Andy’s Fantasy Tasting, 5/1/10

Aroma: The nose is fairly sweet, light spice, malty notes, yeast
Appearance: It pours a clearish golden color with light lacing
Flavor: Taste is similar to the nose, spicy and sweet flavors, some veggie notes
Palate: The body is medium, fairly soft carbonation, with a slightly astringent finish to it
Overall Impression: Overall, this is an OK Tripel, but not great. It’s a lightly too sweet for my tastes and the vegitation and astringency in the finish don’t really work that well either. Not terrible stuff, but not great either.

A: Pours a slightly hazed golden orange color with a nice white head and some spots of lacing. S: I can smell the banana before I even pour the beer in the glass. Big time banana bread aroma and maybe even some banana candy. A touch of spice and maybe a bit of alcohol. Not bad... T: Quite sweet with a definite banana bread flavor to it. A little bit of a bubblegum thing going on also. The alcohol is not there in flavor, but it does provide some perceptible warming notes. A bit of candi sugar and some light fruits, particularly white grapes and pears. M: The body is medium with a carbonation that is on the light end of medium. D: A big improvement from their brown ale. I prefer my tripels on the dry side, but this was not bad at all.

Cloudy apricot colored pour. Sweet yeasty, candy, stone fruit, golden raisin aroma. Flavor is malty, sweet, lots of yeast, candy, caramel, good stuff!

An odd one where the taste is better than the aroma. Pours an orange tinted body (the head disapears as it warms) with a little yeast aroma. Initial taste is yeasty and apple juice. Carbonation is right there. Average mouthfeel, a tad less than expected from the style. Drinkable, it grows on me, but not very drinkable.

Bottle. Pours hazy gold with a weak, white head. Plenty of phenols and clove in the aroma. Flavor is sweet with some light syrup, tart fruit and Belgian sugar. Medium in body with fizzy carbonation and mild warmth. Finishes lightly dry and very sweet. An interesting take on the style.
