Capa (953), Yokosuka, Japan Oct 28, 2009 A real pretty copper color with a firm and lasting head. Nice aroma. Malty with sweet, fruity hops, and some biscuit. Flavor has a lot of that fruitiness but pulls the sweetness back, which is nice. Some malts and spices round out the flavor. Finishes rather bitter and lasting. Body is a little more carbonated than I would like, but it’s not bad. I found this to be highly refreshing and really enjoyed the crisp hoppy flavor. I’d go through a few of these in a night. Bier brauen (210), Bremerton, Washington, USA Oct 8, 2009 Ontap @Dick’s. Good bitter. True to style. But I would not call an ESB, but an english bitter. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Aug 12, 2009 12 oz bottle from Market of Choice. Pours dark gold with a small ass white head. Flavor is bitter and pine hops with a smooth backing. Aroma much the same. Pretty tasty for an ESB. SledgeJr (2957), Omaha, Nebraska, USA Mar 20, 2009 On tap at the brewpub. Pours a dark gold with a medium creamy off-white head. Has a smooth palate with a nice mild bitter finish. Good sweetness but thin in body. Great lacing. At the midpoint I taste green apples and it has a long bitterness on the tongue. bikesandbeers (468), Los Angeles, California, USA Feb 6, 2009 12oz bottle from a sample pack purchased in portland with WeeHeavySD.. poured amber with a slight malty nose. mild flavor with a slightly bitter, flavor. a bit or carbonation but not much else anders37 (4516), Malmö, Sweden Oct 4, 2008 Draught @ the brewpub. Pours a clear amber color with a small off-white head. Has a malty caramel aroma with some hoppy hints. Sweetish malty hoppy caramel flavor. Sweetish malty finish with some hoppy hints in the aftertaste. dalekliz (546), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle, thanks to WeeHeavySD and Bikesandbeer for sharing. Pours a hazy reddish-amber with a small white ring. Very mild hoppy-malt aroma. Mild sharp and clean taste, of bitter hops and malt. Light lingering bitterness. Not much going on, but it’s drinkable. AdamGott (190), Idaho Falls, Idaho, USA Aug 27, 2008 really nice frothy head - malty caramel spicy hop aroma - excellent malty hoppy taste - a little too bitter for the style, I would call it an ’American Bitter’ I guess
