Hazy, light amber ale with a small, creamy, white head and decent retention. Fruity, earthy nose of apricot, peach, pink grapefruit and leather. Bitter, fuzzy fruit tannin; grapefruit pith flavor. Medium-bodied with lively carbonation. Finishes bittersweet and salty. Thanks to whomever provided this one at the Throwdown! alexsdad06 (1138), Ohio, USA

Thanks Craig! -- Pours a cloudy brown color with a large frothy beige head that hangs aaround for a long time. The aroma is sweet caramel and toffee with some citrus hops. The flavor is a wonderful balance of malts and hops. Sweet caramel malts meet citrus hops. The bitterness level is right on the money. This one started out a little hot, but mellowed as it warmed. Mouthfeel is on the high end of medium. Smooth drinking beer. DrBayern (1137), Morehead City, North Carolina, USA

Very deep amber body with a luxurious off white head leaving a fine, sticky, lace. Wonderfully fresh hoppy nose that is spicy and peppery, backed up by a rich caramel. Medium body and carbonation, with some resin noted on the palate. Excellent balance between the caramel malt and biting, bitter hops in a nicely dry finish. Tejas (704), Dallas, Texas, USA

Alcohol is hidden. Big pine, grapefruit and fresh hoppy flavor. Killer IIPA. Will order again for sure. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 15, 2007 Pours a coudy orange amber, with a small white head. Pretty big hops, grapefruit is there, some citrus too. The taste was much the same. Nice complexity, very hoppy, with a good dose of that grapefruit. The finish was slightly bitter, but left a profound sweetness on the palate and in the back of the mouth. Pretty nice big IPA. I liked this brew. awaisanen (1279), Irvine, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 8, 2007 On tap at Brouwer’s Cafe. Pours a deep red cedar amber color, transparent, with a creamy finger of off-white head. Aroma of rich ruddy caramel malts inter-twine beautifully with a fresh, spruce hop bouquet. Great balance and intensity with the hops and malts; intensely hoppy, but the malt character is equally rich with overtones of graham cracker, cinnimon, and honey. Medium bodied, crisply carbonated mouthfeel with a dry, lingering bitter finish. Lots of chewy malt character up front, serving up caramel and biscuit, and finishes up with a refreshingly dry final smack of pink grapefruit and white pine. This example is excellent because it satisfies the deepest hop craving without ignoring a well executed, dry malt backbone. bhensonb (4401), Woodland, California, USA

Dark, red tinged, amber color with an off-white head that rapidly diminished. Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation with no bite. Toasty malt sweetness. Good balancing hop, which I still think is citrus, but could be floral. The finish is almost dry, and the bitter is wonderful. Warming alcohol arises. What a great ale. However, this was a nicely hopped, tasty IPA. Color and aroma were both fantastic. I had about 20 beers before this one, but I do remember this being damn fine.
