| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 16, 2004 Very dark and opaque body. Big creamy tan head that collapses in a rush leaving behind a thick coating on the glass sides. The aroma is roased malt, pretty straight forward. The flavor is also straight forward roasted malts with a little bit of a hop edge to balance things. The finish is bitter coffee. The body is medium and a tad creamy. Neither outstanding nor horrible, just good. Thanks to BBB63 for the surprise. beerinmarch (2829), Washington, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 23, 2004 Black with a light tan head that falls very quickly and has almost no lacing on the glass. Aroma was faint with roasted coffee tones. Taste is fairly sweet at first then ends rather bitter with a light coffee aftertaste. Very smooth going down and a pretty good sweet stout. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2004 Sweet aroma, but pretty weak sauce, looks great, black with a tan ring, excellent flavor, sweet creamy chocolate, nutty vanilla finish, I do love a sweet stout, and this my friend is no exception. flutetokill (515), Fresno, California, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 4, 2004 Opaque dark brown color with a large tan head. Light roasted malt and coffee aroma. Fairly strong sour lactose flavor, with roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. Somewhat creamy feel. An OK stout, but nothing spectacular. loweredsixth (943), Fresno, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Mar 4, 2004 Deep dark brown, opaque, with a generous frothy tan head. The aroma is not strong...roasted, coffee, burnt chocolate. The flavor is similar to the aroma, but with a definite lactic sourness mixed in...much like a porter. Crisp feel...not all that creamy. aracauna (2427), Georgia, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 9, 2004 There's a bit of humor about this beer. First, the label really reminds me of Schlitz Malt Liquor. I mean, then the bull even looks the same. Then they have the balls to put Dick's and Cream in the name. On to the beer. The carbonation is a bit strong, the head booms to just a tad thick with an extrememly soft pour. Any hint of roughness and it would have gone out of control. The head is much like that on a coke float, thick, rocky, stiff and lasts forever. Even after letting it sit for 30 minutes between the first few sips and when I came back to it, it was still there, although reduced. The body is very dark, but flashes of mahogany appear at times. There's a bit of a fizz early on and if you lean the glass away from you, you'll notice a heavy wall of tiny streaming bubbles that normally stay hidden in the murky blackness hitting the sides of the glass. Beautiful beer. Too bad the flavor doesn't match up. Roasty aroma, dark roast coffee, a hint of dark chocolate. More dark chocolate laced coffee in the flavor, this time lightened with a dash of milk. The flavor is thin, almost metallic, though. Nice mouthfeel, actually fits the name, but not as creamy as some. ¾ (5012), Boulder, Colorado, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 5, 2004 A cola-like head on this one. Smell is an oily cream with some mild chocolate. Thin and carbonated, with some light crisp flavors of grains, milk and some metallic tones. BBB63 (4283), La Porte, Indiana, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jan 24, 2004 Pitch black with a quickly disappearing head and little lace. The aroma hints of roasted chocolate and dark malts, caramel, light molasses, cherry and blackberries, floral hops, and a chalky yeast ester. The taste is full-blown bittersweet chocolate covered apples. A undertone of smoke and espresso. The finish is more bitter than sweet and very dry. The mouthfeel is lively, thin and chalky, not creamy IMO. Like those before me, I found this beer to be confusing yet somehow good. It's not a sweet stout but isn't completely a dry stout either. It just a stout, period. (Bottle conditioning may contribute to the dry chalky taste and feeling)
