Commercial Description:
Black and incredibly creamy with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. A large portion of highly roasted black unmalted barley gives this beer it's opaque black color and deep flavors. Additionally a large percentage of unmalted flaked barley in the malt beer gives this beer it's unmatched creaminess. We add just enough hops for a little complexity. The result is a true stout to satisfy any connoisseur of the style, yet so drinkable that it pleases even lighter beer drinkers

Solid black with a creamy, solid tan head. Cocoa and roasted barley aroma. Smooth palate with a big roasted flavor. Has a bit of dusty chalkiness that I sometimes get from dark malts. Finishes with low bitterness and lingering coffee and roasted flavors. Pretty nice.

Bottle... Poured black with a light brown head. Chocolatey malt on the nose. Silky palate with and acidic base, flavors of roasted malt and coffee characteristics, also notes of cocoa, barley, ginger, and maybe sweet nuts. This brew is pretty standard for the style.

black, thin tan head, drops of lace, sweet lactose and vanilla aroma, creamy body, sweet roasted flavor, touch of vanilla, light chocolate, astrengent bitterness eventually shows up and ruins the show, and then some dry stout sourness

12 oz bottle. Pours almost black with a thin tan head and zero lacing. Roasted malt and coffee dominate the aroma. Flavor is a mild coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. Sweet but not overbearing. Medium mouthfeel and a bit creamy. Lacks some complexity, but still a decent stout.

Black with a thin tan head. Aroma is roasty, coffee, light caramel. Taste is roasty, coffee, and cream. Pretty good stout, much improved from their ’porter’. Something you could drink each day.

Bottle split with NachlamSie. Pours black/dark red with a tan head. Aroma is roasty chocolate, smokiness, bitter coffee, and a slight touch of sweetness. Flavor is mostly bitter chocolate and roastiness, more ashy than sweet. The mouthfeel is medium full, and just creamy enough to be very complimentary to the flavor.

bottle split with Muenster. Pours a very dark color, nearly solid black but with evident ruby hues. There’s a small tan head that lingers. Aroma is ashy and smoky with chocolate, oats, buttered rolls. This is surprisingly bitter for a sweet stout. It reminds me a little of a dry stout, but with a more solid milky sweetness. Nicely ashy with flavors of dough, chocolate, light coffee, and hints of butter which I think is the only downfall in what could be a superior brew. It’s okay.
