COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black and incredibly creamy with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. A large portion of highly roasted black unmalted barley gives this beer it's opaque black color and deep flavors. Additionally a large percentage of unmalted flaked barley in the malt beer gives this beer it's unmatched creaminess. We add just enough hops for a little complexity. The result is a true stout to satisfy any connoisseur of the style, yet so drinkable that it pleases even lighter beer drinkers

Serving: from bottle--purchased at The Beer Junction. Aroma: light floral hops and chocolate. Appearance: small, frothy, light brown initial head with fair lacing and mostly diminishing longevity. Dark-brown body. Taste: lightly acidic, chocolate initial flavor and lightly acidic, chocolate, smoke finish with average duration. Palate: light-to-medium body, watery texture and lively carbonation. Overall: not bad. Nice aroma, okay flavor.

Review from notes on 07/07/10 22oz for $4 at Huck’s in Spokane, WA Poured from bottle to SN Pint A: 2 fingers of brown foam fall to reveal surface within 2 minutes of pour. Black beer which I cannot judge clarity on. S: Strong toasty, coffee grains. Unfortunately, this smells like it has too much black patent malt, very dry scent, like charcoal, hint of sharp chemical scent. T: Very strong toast flavor is accented with notes of coffee, and hoppy resin. Not impressive. Finish is very dry and toasted to a crisp. M: Low carb and body reminds me of a rauchbier. Unfortunately, there’s no smoke here to balance the charred feel of this beer. D: This beer leaves one wishing the octane were a little higher. Needs more body. Quite a bit of improvement available here. Serving type: bottle 12-22-2010

alcoholic aroma. dark roast. tastes very very similar to an oatmeal stout but without the thick texture, more of a light soda type mouth feel.

Bottle. Pours a near-black color with a very small tan head on it. Nose is a little roasty, but light. Taste is decently roasty and quite smooth. Not my favorite stout, but decent.

Espresso, bread and chocolate in the aroma. Pours a pitch black with thin mocho colored head and good lacing. Roast, smoke, chocolate slightly creamy a little thin.

Dark brown pour, dark tan head. Aroma of milky coffee with some grain and honey. Taste is more subdued; astringent sour and roasty. Thin wet mouthfeel for a stout. I like a bit more body. It is creamy though.

Super dark brown coloured body with a thin oily light brown head. Aroma of tons of roasted malt, milk, coffee and a lot of anise and spice notes. Medium-bodied; Assertive roasted malt flavours with prunes, raisins, nuts and a lot of lactic sugars noticeable. Aftertaste a touch lighter with a slightly thinner body, some caramel sweetness and a lot of earthier, nutty flavours. Overall, a nice robust beer with a complex flavour - a bit needed on the body, but a nice beer to sample for sure! I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Pear Delicatessen in Seattle, Washington on 08-February-2013 for US$2.00 sampled a day later in my hotel room in Seattle on 09-February-2013.

355ml bottle pours almost black in color with a finger of light beige head that leaves some spotted lacing. Aroma is roasted grains with chocolate and coffee and hints of hops. Taste is roasted malt and coffee bitterness with a caramel chocolatey malt sweetness that balances things out. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation leaving a nice mouthfeel. I wouldn’t go so far as to call this a sweet stout, but this is a really tasty brew and highly recommended.
