COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black and incredibly creamy with flavors of coffee and dark chocolate. A large portion of highly roasted black unmalted barley gives this beer it's opaque black color and deep flavors. Additionally a large percentage of unmalted flaked barley in the malt beer gives this beer it's unmatched creaminess. We add just enough hops for a little complexity. The result is a true stout to satisfy any connoisseur of the style, yet so drinkable that it pleases even lighter beer drinkers

Opaque dark mahogany. Thin tan edge head. Zero carbonation except the slight bubbles forming near the head. Aroma of roasted coffee, barley and burnt caramel. Thin and watery body with mildy burnt and coffeed malt flavors. Light underpinnings of prune juiciness. Black malt twang. Finishes richly malty and lightly sweet but with a weak body. This brew obviously doesn’t hold carbonation well as the first sample, two days ago, had plenty of carbonation and this one looks and tastes like cold black coffee. What a shame because the flavors beneath the lifeless body are promising.

It was my girlfriend with the dirty mind who laughed at the idea of this beer being "Dick’s Cream". As a heterosexual male, it’s not often I yearn for some "Dick’s Cream", but for this Stout I’ll make an exception. And don’t get me started on describing the "head"...

Pours very dark, almost black, with very little tan head. Aroma is a bit thin, notes of malt, coffee, and dark fruits. Taste is smoother and a bit creamier. Very drinkable and rich, but not as complex or rich as an Imperial. Nicely done!

Bottle with Carla. Pours dark brown with dark tan foam. Smells roasty with a touch of sweetness. Tastes creamy but thin with light coffee and chocolate.

Dark brown, see-through cola-color at the edges. Fizzy light-brown head, fades to nothing after a couple of minutes. Aroma is pine, grass, roast, coffee, and chocolate, all in equal amounts. It doesn’t really smell that sweet or malty though. Light and creamy body. Flavor has a touch of yummy malt sweetness, but this isn’t really a cream/milk/sweet stout in my book. There’s just not enough milky sweetness and body. Grass, light coffee, light bitterness, light sweet malt. There is a lovely twang of yummy caramel-milk that comes out near the aftertaste once the beer is warmed up. It’s the saving grace for this beer, as it is really not impressive otherwise.

12 oz bottle into English pint. This bottle reads 5.5% ABV. Pours opaque black with a gigantic tan head that recedes slowly. Aroma is strong in DME first and foremost, then caramel and cinnamon bread. Taste is a little sweet but more bitter; nice roasty coffee character. Highly carbonated for the style, full-bodied. Lightly creamy. Flawed but tasty nonetheless.

From a shared tasting with Strykzone via Facebook as we puzzled over this brew. The 22 oz bottle poured a rich dark brown with fairly large tan head that just sat there for about 5 minutes. Superb retention. Thick lacing rings left behind as it slowly settled. Consumed at 50 degrees which is my cellar temperature in the middle of winter. The nose is coffee and chocolate malts with some funky peat aromas as well. The body is medium and the mouthfeel is reasonably smooth. The flavor is stronger on the coffee than the chocolate, and it has a light dry bitter finish. Generally on the light side of sweet stouts, but quite drinkable.

Thanks to Hayduke for this one. He, his brother Rick, and I shared via Facebook chat. Very dark with almost no red. A tan head that faded into a ring. Aroma is coffee first followed by chocolate and that is followed by peat. The flavor is almost the same. There are some bitter and tart hops as undertones. Light dark fruit makes an occasional appearance. Not among the greats but a nice beer. There is enough going on to be interesting.

Tastes very, very chocolate-y and is so very smooth. There’s a little bit of milky cream flavor as well that mingles well with the chocolate and coffee that predominates this brew. Not terribly bitter, but the flavor has a mellow bitterness that is balanced with the creaminess. Just the right texture as well.
