COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Our flagship beer. A large percentage of black malt give this distinctive ale its dark brown/black color and that slightly roasted flavor. Magnum hops provide a backbone of bitterness and large additions of Mt. Hood hops later in the boil come right through in the finish. The result is a highly drinkable dark ale which bridges the gap between pale and porter.

An interesting dark brew with tart overtones. Not as much body as I would prefer but still quite drinkable. Definite hop influence but still reminding you of it’s UK styling.

Looks like a ’nut brown ale’ with a thin head that laces nicely. Has a nutty taste to it also, very bitter and a nice hoppy bite at the end. I’m left with that dark nutty taste, like roasted chestnuts afterwards. Pretty decent!

Re-Rate 05/08/02: Deep slightly cloudy garnet color, frothy beige head and good lace. Nose is malt, caramel hints, maybe a bit nutty sweetness from the ’Black Malts’. Front slightly sweet, the top is light, acidic, dry, great hop bite that I like. Been more than a year since my last sample, still a decent drinkable beer.
