On tap at Hop Vine Pub, Seattle. Ruby colour with thin beige head. Not sure what to make of this. Obviously strong in alcohol I thought at the time, although not crude. An old ale perhaps with sour malt aroma. Juicy. Some hop on end, bit of coffee and damson. Bit syrupy but I got the ABV of this so wrong, I thought it was around 9%

Bottle from Johns Market. Mysterious dark aromas. Not roasted/toasted malt. Not dark fruit. ? Deep reddish tones for color, with beige head that filmed out, but left "stuff". Medium bodied with moderate carbonation that renders the texture creamy as it leaves. The "brown" flavor is refined, seems to have spicey notes. This is not your everyday brown ale. It’s a sophisicate with some Belgian connections (or some spicy hop). The finish is dry, with (finally, I guess) toasted malt flavor, well balanced by some hop bitter. Leaves my mouth tingly. Way decent drink.

Poured clear brown color with a large frothy off-white head that was mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Moderate toasted caramel malt and nut aroma. Medium body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium sweet chocolate flavor with a medium sweet finish of moderate duration.
My expectations where met with this beer.
