joshuah (37), Ferndale, Michigan, USA Dec 4, 2005 Wasn’t impressed with this too much. Overwhelming malt taste, took over everything
dalekliz (163), San Diego, California, USA Aug 29, 2008 Bottle, thanks to WeeHeavySD and Bikesandbeer for sharing. Pours a clear brown with a thin, cream-colored head that fades. Slightly sour malt aroma, yeasty with under-ripe fruit. Taste of burnt, toasted malt and sour vinegar. Lingering burnt flavors. Didn’t really work for me. WeeHeavySD (1711), San Diego (Hillcrest), California, USA Jul 30, 2008 12oz from a pack bikesandbeer and i bought. Pours light brown with an off white head. Sweet nose eh taste. Angeloregon (1898), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 22, 2008 On tap at Belmont Station--Poured a dark, murky brown-amber body with a toffee and hops spice nose. Sweet, rich and crisp. Very nice and highly drinkable. Somewhere between and amber and a brown ale but with the quaffability of a pale ale. HoppyGuy (100), USA Jun 28, 2008 On tap. Pours a deep ebony color with an off-white head. The aroma is a bit hoppy, yet a bit sweet (chocolate?). The flavor has the roasted malt upfront, with a touch of coffee. Interestingly enough, the mouthfeel isn’t "heavy" like a lot of dark brews, but is lighter than it looks like it should be. This brew has a bit of a hops presence and a little bitterness, but a posses great balance with the roasted malts. Very drinkable. I’d like to pair this brew with some nice barbecue food and a potato salad. BOLTZ7555 (463), Phoenix, Arizona, USA Jun 13, 2008 What does one expect from a session beer??? The flavor is there...roasted malt, caramel, toffee. The aroma is subtle coffee with a touch of honey sweetness. Thin compared to others in the category but that quality adds to its drinkability. I liked it. Wouldn’t mind another (and another, and another, and another).
