glkaiser (1150), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 4, 2009 Black with a light brown head. Subtle chocolate roast aroma. Taste is smooth, yet slightly complex and deep, roasted malts. Lots of chocolate, a little espresso. Just a little soy. Not too sweet, and not too dry…somewhere in the middle. Hint of bitterness in the finish. Really quite enjoyable. Don’t come looking for a huge, intense 12% ABV Imperial Stout here. But, this 7.5% stout is incredibly drinkable and packs in plenty of flavor. Very well done. daknole (2810), Plantation, Florida, USA Oct 3, 2009 Dark brown pour, light tan head. Aroma very roasty and coffee. Flavor is a bit bitter with roasted malt and espresso. Not bad at all!!! Birdiebeagle (778), Perkasie, Pennsylvania, USA Sep 23, 2009 Bottle From scrizz, Pours a good black with a decent tan head. The head has average lasting. Seems to lace quite well. The aroma is differnt. Fruits, Coffee, chocolate, and bitters. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is good. Well balanced and blended. Has a smoothness to it. The texture is less than thick. Has a medium body. The finish is good and I like the aftertaste. jcwattsrugger (5223), Florida and, New Jersey, USA Sep 17, 2009 ‘07-12oz bottle-Thanks to Ibrew2or3@Tampa Wkly Gathering-pours a thin light brown head and black color. Aroma is dark malt-earthy/chocolate/anise. Taste is sweet dark malt-earthy/chocolate/anise/caramel, roasty, dark fruit, slight hops.
coyotehunter (542), , Michigan, USA Aug 31, 2009 Bottle thanks to Scrizz. Pours out a deep reddish black with a light tan slowly forming head, which soon dissipates into a strange swiss cheese looking head. Aroma is wonderful of of cocoa, vanilla and coffee. Taste is more of the same, in a fantastic way with a nice creamy palate. Beautiful stout. sebletitje (1880), Tampa, Florida, USA Aug 26, 2009 courtesy of ibrew2or3.
Pours thick black with a thin beige head.
Aroma is malty with hints of roast.
Flavor, chocolate and caramel malts adding some bitterness, roast, dry mouthfeel with hints of dark fruits.
We all need more Dicks in our life. trevor211 (500), Seattle, Washington, USA Aug 14, 2009 Black in the glass, but didn’t pour like an impy. Dark ruby brown, with a tan head. A good amount of chocolate and roasty malts on the nose, and this actually has more body than I expected. The malt overload has the traditional almost-sour note they get when it didn’t go quite far enough (this becomes especially prominent in the aftertaste). The flavor adds some mild roasty, smokey coffee to the aroma notes. The balance is great - there’s enough hops in here to counter all that dark malt... but this one just screams "almost" for me. Still - at $1.99/bottle, I’m pretty impressed. obguthr (986), Poquoson, Virginia, USA Aug 2, 2009 Relatively weak aroma of raisins and dates. Black, slightly viscous pour, thin yellow head. Well balanced coffee, raisin, charred oak flavor. Licorice and coffee finish. Bloody mouthfeel. Alcohol well hidden. An imperial stout that is better "down your gullet" than "in your face". Tasty.
