Commercial Description:
Deep and malty. Large quantities of specialty malts give this ale such depth of flavor. Caramel, brown, and chocolate malts, and black barley are all included. Magnum hops are added during the boil to balance the substantial maltiness and Willamette hops provide a nice spicy finish. Our house yeast ferments this beautiful black beer.

Very dark brown with a thin head. Cocoa, roasted aroma with a bit of leather and smoke. Soft mouthfeel. Slightly tart and moderately bitter with some metallic notes. Milky, roasted and chocolate flavors. Too sweet for the level of flavor that the beer has. Overall, doesn’t measure up.

Poured a deep dark black-brown. Opaque with a small alluring creamy off-white head. Nose of caramel and chocolate hops with a bright hoppiness as well. Rich, full mouthfeel. Notes of sweet creamy sugars and chocolate and slight coffee. Finished well-rounded and was utterly delicious.

Poured a very dark ruby black color with a creamy tan head. The aroma was roasty with a moderately sweet malt. Light hops and bitter sweet chocolate. The flavor had an initial sweet start that becomes dry and roasty. Moderately bitter finish. Medium body.

12 oz. bottle. Deep black/ruby, not quite opaque, but still inviting with a medium light brown head that sticks around for a while. In addition to the usual coffee and chocolate aromas, which are somewhat subdued here, there is also some dark fruitiness, and a hint of alcohol. Nice mouthfeel, a pleasing thickness on the palate, light carbonation, and just a touch of astringency. Prominent sweet malt flavors balance well with the bitterness of the roasted malts and peppery hops resulting in a very soft blanced finish. This lies on the border between an Imperial Stout and a simple Stout. It’s not overly assertive in any aspect, but presents nice balance and is very drinkable. I’s buy more if it were available where I live.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle via trade with kenb. Pours a medium brown amber brew with a heavy light tan head that slowly dissolves to a fine film, tan ring and average lacing. Aroma of brown sugar, toasted dark malt, some chocolate, coffee and a touch of vanilla. Taste is full bodied, slightly metalic and light carbonation with flavors of dark roasted malt, dark chocolate and some mild bitter hops. Finish is mildly bitter with a dark roasted malt aftertaste.

Brown with foamy brown head. Lighter oatmeal than the last one. No coffee or chocolate in the body. Very nice dry finish.
