COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A pale ale hopped to the extreme! This beer starts out as a nice pale ale until it reaches the kettle. Throughout the course of the 90 minute boil four massive hop additions are made which transform this beer into a hop-head's dream come true. Both Chinook and Tomahawk hops from the Yakima valley are added in extreme quantities for the maximum bitterness, flavor and aroma.

Bottle from Craft. Deep copper pour with 2-finger off-white head. Nose is caramel malt, orange marmalade, hops. Tastes caramel malty, with notes of pineapple, resiny hops, and black pepper.

12oz - Soapy aroma of lemon, pine sol and some bready malts. Flavor is also soapy, piney hops and some caramel. Palate is a bit astringent. Not too good.

Bottle Pours a clear copper with a big foamy off white head. The head lasts well, and makes some spotty lacing. Has a light aroma of citrus hops, with light touches of caramel malts. Has a good carbonation. The flavor is hoppy. A good amount of bitterness. Blended well and balanced nicely. Has a touch oily texture. A good mouthfeel. The finish is good and a real good aftertaste. I may be a hophead but I really like this one.

Pours a light orange/copper with a small, off-white head. Sweet mandarin and citrus hops on the nose, not a whole lot of bitterness here. The grainy, almost wheat-like flavor of stale hops pairs with a bit of caramel malt, but citrus dominates here. Nice mouthfeel - for such a low-octane brew (my bottle said 5.5%), it maintains a nice, thick mouthfeel with a clean finish. Not bad at all, though it needs some practice.

12oz. Bottle: Aroma of hops, brown sugar, light malts, slight citrus, slight caramel, and a hint of grains. Poured amber/orange in color with a small to medium-sized, creamy, off-white head that diminished but lasted throughout. Hazy. Sparkling. Good lacing. Flavor is lightly sweet and light to medium bitter. Tastes of hops, citrus, caramel, light pine, slight resin, and a cloying metallic flavor. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Hops, resin, and strong metal finish is lightly dry.

Golden copper with a white head. Plenty of citrus hop aroma. Fresh fruit, light floral, grapefruit, light pine, and some sweet caramel. Very pleasant aroma. Flavor continues the fresh citrus hop feel. Grapefruit and medium caramel malts round it out. Finishes with some refreshing bitterness and light pine. A very nice IPA.

Beardface (1517) - Eugene, Oregon, USA - JUL 4, 2009
Very light amber, almost no head and zero lacing. Aroma is very heavy on the citrus, very light caramel malt smells as well. Flavor is quite bitter, mixture of citrus (grapefruit) hops and pine hops with a bit of a caramel backing, but not much. I like bitter, overly hopped IPAs so this wasnít much of a problem, but this isnít a great example of the style.

Golden amber color. Definitely a lot of bitterness that sticks around long after your done drinking. I feel thereís a nice malty body somewhere in there, but itís hidden by all the hops. Not that this is a bad thing, but itís a shame that a possibly tasty beer is being overshadowed.

Bottle thanks to riversideAK. Pours a clear orange with a small white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malt, light tropical fruits, and grassy hops. Flavor is similar with sweet malt and light citrusy and fruity hops. Pleasant and enjoyable. 7/4/8/4/14 (3.7/5)

Bottle. Aroma of caramel/toasted malt with some floral hoppiness, pretty bland all around. Flavor better with very bitter citrus tones taking over. Mild astringency. Not a bad drinker.
