boFNjackson (1233), Portland, Oregon, USA Feb 28, 2009 Tap @ Bailey’s Taproom... Poured a light orange with a white head. Not much of the raspberry in the aroma, had a touch of the fruit but mostly soft with yeast notes. I thought the raspberries played nicely with the clove and yeast characteristics of the style. A little grainy, but way in the background and led to a little alcohol in the finish. beerinmarch (2781), Alabama, USA Feb 26, 2009 On tap at Bailey’s Taproom. Glowing gold body, soft red hue to it, tall white smooth head. Big fruity nose, soft of sweet like a jolly rancher candy. Very mild tartness in the finish. Esters are muted and the carbonation is soft, letting the sweetness of the raspberry to come through, sadly I don’t really care for the flavor, sort of fake and candy like. scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Dec 4, 2008 Distinct raspberry puree on the nose with pointed belgian yeast. ruby amber. concentrated belgian, some salt, kiss of fruit. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Aug 6, 2008 Tap at Brouwers. I thought it had an aroma that was ridiculously similar to the raspberry Mamba candy with some alcohol in the back end. Pours a reddish tone with a decent thin head that lasted a while. Flavor initially is of a generic tripel with strong yeasty spice and some sweetness. This is followed by a sweet raspberry puree kind of thing that comes on strong. The finish is pretty hot and combined with the raspberry, it creates a medicinal effect that detracted strongly from this beer. Medium carbonation, but just too hot and cough syrupy for me.
