COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Golden colored and crisp with the distinctive rye character. We combine the highest percentage of flaked rye possible with 2-row malted barley to extract the maximum rye flavor. We carefully sparge the mash and the boil the wort. We make three hop additions during the boil with an emphasis on balance in the finished beer

Cloudy apple juce apperance. Sweet fruity slightly dry and tart. Good hop and lemon flavors. Not my favorite but a good beer on the Lite side.

A deep amber color with a thin head. This was a crisp flavored brew with a good bitter finish. The Rye is a very different flavor this was one of my first Rye beers I hope to try others to really get a good comparison.

Bottle from mixed 12 pack. This beer smells like apple juice with a similar appearance. The beer has a good amount of sediment floating and there is no head what-so-ever. Flavor is sweet with almost no detectable hoppiness. I guess there is some rye flavor, but to me it simply tastes like a mildly carbonated hard cider. It is also relatively wattery in the body. This is probably my least favorite beer from Dick’s Brewing.

UPDATED: JAN 6, 2007 Draft at the Barking Dog. Pours deep dark gold with a platinum blonde head. There’s not a whole big pile of that platinum blondeness, but what’s there grabs your eye and sticks around for a minute. It hits you with that expected sour rye right from the nose. Not too awfully much else actually in the nose, in fact, nor in the attack...the mid-palate...nor the finish. This is a great beer, at least for me, because I still haven’t really gotten tired of rye yet. It’s just a nice, easy-drinking, mild ale that happens to taste like rye instead of barley malt. Nice stuff. Sessionable. What’s not to like?

On tap at Coopers in Seattle.

Pours a surprisingly light golden with a limited head. The aroma is faint - slight orachard friuit, slight cut grass. The flavor is again gently fruity, a bit of apple, a whisper of peach, cut with ample bitter rye that doesn’t come in early and rich so much as late and metallic. The mouthfeel is fairly thin and generally unexceptional.

This is certainly drinkable and suffers no major flaws -- but neither is it anything special as far as I am concerned.

A decent little beer. Sweet honey maltiness, definite crisp rye bread flavors. Light grainy flavors and some sweet fruits. A wonderful session beer.

12 oz bottle. Golden beer, thin white head. Chunky yeast floaties throughout. Pale malt aroma, light honey, apple/pear esters, more of a wheaty spiciness than rye. Light spicy flavour on the front of the palate, fruity yeast over sweet bready/crackery malts. A light refreshing tartness in the finish. A bit of lemon/orange flavour becomes more prominent as the beer warms. Great session beer.

(12 oz bottle: Dick’s Brewing Co. in Centralia, WA) This is a very tasty beer. Lots of toasty, bready malts easily leading the way, with only a slight tartness and no noticeable bitterness. The tartness stops short of being overly sour. Toasty and tart aromas are in good balance. Medium bodied, carbonation levels are solid, and the tartness keeps the palate refreshed. Light golden color and somewhat hazy. The creamy, off-white head pours to only about half an inch, and settles to a thin ring. A great session ale for me. Tasty, easy to drink, doesn’t tire out the palate, pretty low in alcohol, and just a very enjoyable brew.
