DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

Tap. A pretty plain Alt, not a bad one though. Typical malts, color, and carbonization, but rather thin.

Starts rich with a creamy head that quickly fades without a trace. Looks flat, but carbonation is present. An almost overly harsh bitterness arises as you progress. Hints of malts and hops, but one-dimensionally bitter near the end. Disappointing.

Sampled from a bottle at Bierschenke, City of London. Copper coloured with a white head. Aroma is mostly of caramel, and the taste is caramel with nutty overtones. Served too cold, direct from the fridge. Quite sweet and with a rather watery palette. Not much bitterness. An easy-drinking beer without much character, surprisingly underpowered for an altbier.

Can in Frankfurt. Golden body with medium head. Nose is corny, floral and slightly metallic. Taste is eggy, malty and hops. Smooth and creamy. Pretty good.

Ciemno miedziane piwo o grubej, lecz nietrwałej pianie. W smaku bardzo fajne, słodowe, chmielowe i goryczkowe - idealne wyważenie proporcji.
