COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

Light copper in color with a large off-white head. Aroma of malt and hops. Flavor is toasty/bready malt with a clean consistant bitterness and a dry finish.

Bottle - May 06 Pours a Crystal clear deep shinning copper color with a medium sized white head. Aroma is fruity and somewhat oxidazed. Taste is very clean, fruity, malty whit a touch of toast, subtle oxidation, somewhat aged. Very balanced, crisp, with a pleasant slightly bitter aftertaste. Refreshing.. but lacking.

Tasted this one from the bottle into a flute glass on a rather chilly Autumn night. Probably not the perfect choice! A lot of fine carbonation surged up through its deep, brownish copper body to a lax, soapy, off-white head that lasted and left some legs. Deep, mellowing, dusty and woody malt nose with a hint of tangy cola beer. Aroma faded quite quickly which was disappointing. The flavour is pleasant in the mouth building up where the aroma left off, but it is discernibly thin for its style (pasteurised, filtered). Carbonation is prickly smoothing out towards the tonsils. Balanced woody malts, light hint of honey on the very tip of the tongue and a good bitter bite of grassy, spicy hops in the back end. Finish is all wood and gritty malts, drying and quite long with just a touch of ’rusted car bodies’ and soap lingering on the tongue. It’s altogether easy to drink - nothing is too pronounced to be off-putting. In fact it gets better as it warms and even more refreshing. Wonder if this is still available on lees from the wood?, from InBev I doubt it. Quenching!!! (33cL, 05/09/06, Int’l Beer Shop, W. Leederville)

(0.5 L from Tap) Rather bland tasting beer. I like altbier, but this one was just ’ok’. Malty and slightly bitter taste. Head was not there for long.

My first alt in Dusseldorf. Aroma is malty. Taste is also malty with maybe a little grassy bittering hops, however a bit average.

A dark, orangey, brown beer with a light white head. The nose has an immediate strong, toasted malt element, there is also a slight floral hint towards the end. The taste again has the strong,, slightly sweet toasted malt element to begin with, which is followed by a refreshing dryness. The finish is slightly dry and malty.

Bottled: puts a copper-brown ale in your galss. 2 finger creamy cap with good retention and lacing. Mild aromas..woodsy, grassy, grainy. Mouthfeel is smooth and mellow good balance between toasty cerial malts and herbal-tobacco like hops dry clean finish. Overal impression is of a lilting dryness that travels just above an ample malt spine....a good alt for a large brewer

I picked up this while on vacation in SoCal. Cracked it open and it poured out a soft chestnut hue to the beer. Very little head. Mouthfeel was soft, light and definitely drinkable. Flavor was moderate hoppy, malty and yeasty. It has a very nice balance to it and it finishes very clean. I’d DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone if you can find it. Very drinkable. In fact I could probably finish off 3 or 4 in short time, so I’d even say this would be a good session beer. Well done.
