DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

Solid amber colour with a light toast coloured head. Aromas of nuts, almonds, marzipan, wood and tobacco develop on the nose. Softly CO2 propelled showing a light sweetness with light bitterness, slender body offering a light bitter finish which last a short while.

Dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, bitter. Geschmack röstmalzig, leicht schokoladig, würzig bitterer Abgang.

Red brown color with a solid head. Decent aroma of malt, toffee and burned bread, with hints of funkiness. Fresh, malty beginning with lots of flavor, mostly malts, bread, hints of sugar, warming feeling on the palate, which vanishes way too soon. Nearly no aftertaste at all, only short bitterness in the end adding complexity to the malts. This is an easy to drink Alt, which may fit for warm summer days, but all in all it lacks complexity an has a too-light body for my taste. The malts are too sweet, therefore the beer lacks balance, which should be provided by the bitterness.

0,3l on Tap in Düsseldorf! Leuchtend braunes Bier mit heller, cremiger Schaumkrone. Angenehme Röstmalze und die Süffigkeit lassen das Bier sehr angenehm werden.

Rating from 2.6.2008: Sehr schöner cremiger Schaum. --> 12.65

On tap @ Berliner Republik. profumo abbastanza intenso e persistente. Vinoso, di uva bianca matura, e frutta rossa, quasi di ciliege.

Bottle. Pours a clear deep amber with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has a combination of leaves and bread with a backing mustiness. Flavor has same bread and leaves with a bit of grassiness.

Bottle from Mam and Dad’s holiday Dusseldorf, Germany. This is a dark brown beer with malty and nutty flavours, chocolate notes and roasted bitterness on the finish.
