COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

Not spectacular, though quite drinkable.

This beer greets you with alight, nutty nose. Rather fizzy with a nice head initially. The color is a clear, tawny brown. Judiciously balanced, this brew serves up cookie-like and fruity (apricot?) flavors. The full hop bitterness turns a little gritty in the finish. The body is thin, yet mouth filling. Like this stuff - definitely above average.

It was easy to drink (clean tasting), but lacked some flavour, still, i couldn’t find anything that bad a bout this beer, but just nothing outstanding.

This beer is difficult to pigeon-hole. Brown-gold, good head, classy bottle and label. (I don’t usually care, but the bottle has a good balance and a thick rim-- I’ll save these for the homebrew.) Well-balanced, smooth, dry, with a lot of character. Woody, with a satisfying grainy-baked character. I was expecting a run-of-the-mill German pilsener when I bought a single, but was pleasantly surprised. The aroma isn’t very prominent, or it would have rated a bit higher.

Malty, a bit burned taste that goes on into the aftertaste. Dry and long. I like the style, but have to say that this is a relatively average Alt.

I had this in the Alstadt of Duesseldorf. FANTASTIC Alt. This is the only alt I like. ( Has to be on draft ) I think the bottle sucks.

Not a fan of Alt beers but this one is execption. Has a great ’woody’ taste. Best enjoyed in the Diebels bar in the Alt Stadt in Dusseldorf!! Oh and by the way the guy who said it tasted like toohey is not to be taken seriously.
