BierDrinker99 (1), USA does not count Nov 1, 2002 The best beer i ever had thomas_matthew (2), USA does not count Jun 4, 2005 one of my favorite beers.
just dark enough to be interesting, just light enough to be drinkable.
a bit of a caramel taste to it. nice amber color. surprisingly not bitter at all. Skred (107), Houma, Louisiana, USA Mar 20, 2002 This is my first alt, and if there are better ones out there, I want to try them all! At the end of the glass, I found myself wishing that the 1 pint, .9 oz. bottle had been one of those 22’s. Clear brown color like a Vienna amber, good and lasting head. Aroma is mostly malt, flavor is an excellent blend of malt and hops, finish has faint coffee notes that are happily not overdone. Just in case my description has left any doubt, I really like this beer! wilkie (1087), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA Aug 17, 2002 Nice caramel flavor and aroma. Plenty fizzy with good head and retention.
Bitterness detected, but not overpowering. Sweetness hinted and smooth
finish. One of the best beers from Deutschland, and a pleasant change from
the omnipresent pilseners. I had a friend bring this one back from Germany.
One broke in his luggage, but still two survived.
austinpowers (2827), New York, New York, USA Nov 1, 2002 Updated: Apr 28, 2003When it comes to altbiers, I prefer Widmer Winternacht, but this is a close second. Very malty and brewed in the old style of the Lower Rhine Valley. Light tasting, despite its dark color. Very tasty!
