COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
DIEBELS Alt is brewed according to the German Purity Law of 1516. Under this "Reinheitsgebot", only four ingredients are allowed: Barley malts, hops, yeast, and water. The dark-roasted special malt lends DIEBELS its unmistakable amber glow.

Dark and Delicious. For a dark, flavorful beer, DIEBELS is surprisingly light and drinkable - a beer you can enjoy all night long. It isn't bitter like many ales, and it doesn't have the strong aftertaste of certain imports.

Very clear dark amber in hue, with medium beige-white head and patchy lace. Aroma is slighty tangy/hoppy with sweet malt notes also in play Flavor features a blend of lightly sweet and darker roasted malts. Carbonation is relatively light, in characer with this mellow brew. Body is adequate for this style, but is a tad on the light side. The finish is quite clean and mildly dry. Overall, this is a very drinkable altbier, but is without distinctive characteristics.

Can on the 22.40 train from Dusseldorf to Koln (probably from Yormas at the Hbf), 28/04/13. Clear chestnut brown with a big frothy beige head. Nose is dark malt, toffee, grain, brown sugars. Taste comprises dark malt, toffee fudge, bran flakes, brown sugars. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Average alt compared to the ones I’d just sampled in the bars of Dusseldorf, it smacked of mass production, drinkable none the less.

(Bottle): Pours a clear dark brown with small diminishing white head. Strong roasted malt aroma with hints of toffee and chocolate. Nice malty, bready taste with slight bitterness and overall roasty. An above average, very sessionable beer.
