dirkules (611), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Oct 9, 2006 Bottled. This one is a smooth drippy sweet amazing beer! Rum butter and barley sugar candies abound in this malty murky beer. The perfect blends on scotch and ale breadiness. A masterful rendition of the best ingredients. hopscotch (4433), Vero Beach, Florida, USA Jul 13, 2005 Bottle... RBSG 2005... This beer rocks!... Hazy copper ale with a mid-sized, frothy, white head. Very good retention. Notes of brown sugar, light smoke, maple syrup (maybe more from the power of suggestion, though), caramel and oak in both the aroma and flavor. Medium to full-bodied with a lightly oily mouthfeel and moderate carbonation. Lengthy, bitter-sweet finish. Have I ever mentioned that I like scotch ale?... a lot? Especially this one. Reminiscient of Alesmith Wee Heavy Scotch Ale... but it’s difficult to beat perfection. egajdzis (2947), Terrapin, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 11, 2005 RBSG 2005... Poured a reddish brown color with a thin, light tan head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of light fruits, maple syrup, scotch, oak, cherries, yeast, and alcohol. Taste of maple syrup, caramel malts, cherries, light bitterness, and a touch of alcohol. Nuffield (2536), Roseville, Minnesota, USA Jun 4, 2008 Great zinging carbonation. Big malty, sweet profile, with some subtleties in the fruit and spice dimension. I didn’t have the details on this beer when I drank it and I thought it was a Belgian double--am I wrong in thinking this could pass for it? Excellent. (on tap at Mondial de la Biere, 2008, Montreal) Ungstrup (11031), Frederiksberg, Denmark Nov 11, 2005 [January 2005 version - sampled July 2005] A hazy deep red beer with a small orange head. The aroma is sweet with lots of wood, but also some maple sirup. The flavor has the maple syrup running in the cheeks, while the wood dries out the tongue - add to this notes of cherries, and You have a wonderful beer.
