radiomgb (1776), Peterborough, Ontario, Canada Sep 26, 2004 Murly golden colour with large white head. Aroma was quite tart and sour, fruit and wheat. Flavour was sour, lemons and orange citrus, lots of acidity. Medium body, high carbonation. Finishes quite sour and dry. Very thirst quenching and refreshing. This brewery is so good it scares me. tiggmtl (4179), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Sep 4, 2004 Updated: Sep 22, 2004Re-rated at 6th anniversary party 11-Sep-04. Tart, yeasty character. Excellent wheat flavour shines through. Straw coloured and hazy with big white head that lasts nicely. Thirst quenching and flavourful with a pretty big mouthfeel from the wheat and high carbonation to excite the tongue. Posted new score as I have gotten to know the style a bit better.
Original rating (7-4-7-3-14=3.5) Tart, citrus yeast aroma. Opaque straw colour with strong white head. Mildly spicy, tart citrus flavour. Strong carbonation. Sampled 2003. Simon_Patrice (312), Montréal, Quebec, Canada Sep 18, 2003 Pale cloudy straw colour, big white head. Citrussy aroma, a hint of breadiness, a bit woody. Refreshing tartness, fine carbonation, a nice subtlety in the flavor, a bit champagne-like, come lemon notes, long lasting acidity. I would not have minded a bit more tartness though. aerosol999 (113), Quebec, Canada Sep 18, 2007 9mo aged cask at the brewpub, DDC 9th anniversary
Appearance: Hazy yeelow gold with a goodly amount of thick white head.
Aroma: Sharp and acidic, but clean acidic smooth and lemony. Very appealing.
Flavour: Zap! Clean and smooth sourness which doesn’t hide the wheat character of the beer. Lots of citrus peel. No bitterness, no hop flavour. Lemon yogurt.
Mouthfeel: Light bodied acid and smooth.
Overall: Clean and refreshing very nice a great berliner weisse (but more alcohol) smooth citrusy and lactobacillus or sour mash probably. HopasaurusRex (195), Glen Ellyn, Illinois, USA Sep 14, 2004 Probably the best Berliner Weisse I’ve had that didn’t come from Germany-and better than most from there. Dead on for aroma and tart flavor, like a "sour patch kid" candy, ,but less sweet. Would’ve liked to try this with a little syrup added. A refreshing palate cleanser among the malt monsters of the pub.
