Cask - Volo Cask Days 2010, Day 1 (session 2). Hmmm, amber ale, usually a set-up for disappointment. We’ll see. Amber pour (duh) with an average somewhat diminishing frothy off-white cask head. Smells juicy, a bit pungently floral, also grassy, with a weird hint of green olive (7-). Taste follows, almost sour fruit ... no olives. Average body, not much carbonation, pretty generic but not bad, at least it’s an amber with some hop character, unlike most.

On tap at Dieu du ciel. The color is a hazy copper with a thin beige head. The taste is of hops, spicies and some herbs. The aroma is of hops but not much and nothing else. This is just one of there beers that was made maybe for patrons that are beginers.

Cask at ’Volo Cask Days 2010’. Pours a cloudy orange-copper with a small bubbly white head. Aroma of leafy hops, grain and sweet malt. Flavour’s grainy with a very bitter finish. Average bodied. Good but a tad disappointing.

[3438-20101029] Cask. Aroma is very faint, a little leafy. Hazy, dark orange red body with a quick bubbly off-white head. Mild green hops flavour has a long awkward bitterness. Medium body. Not great.

Tap at Volo (cask). Very nice beer. Aroma of leaves, and nuts. Taste has a bitter finish, and good length. Palate is velvety, and medium bodied. Cloudy, light brown, with no head.

Volo Cask Days 2010
Aroma mild citrus sided hop aroma with good clean approach. Sweet malts behind.
Appearance fine hazed bright copper/amber with medium light rocky top.
Flavor and Palate : Lighter brew on paper (compared to the rest of the show) yet flavor is quiet rich and potent. Mid plus bodied , malts with hop in tandem with clean long bitter finish. Good spread presented.

Bar Volo Cask Days 2010 post-days. CLoudy grapefruit colour, cask bubbles. Mild hop aromas. Decent bitterness, short of astringent. Good IBU and well malted. Above average mouthfeel. Good harvest ale. Just some near-astringent notes.Decent drinkability.

2010-10-29. Hazy dark orange amber body with a small frothy beige head. 3+ Modest hoppy aroma, light leafy notes. Flavour is similar, modest bitterness, leafy green accents, mild supporting malt. 6+ Average palate. Bit muddled, okay but a bit disappointing from DDC. Cask at Volo, Toronto

On cask for Cask Days at Volo in Toronto. Served in an English pint glass. Pours hazy reddish orange with a small, rocky tan head. The head remains but leaves no lace. The nose is reminiscent of an English bitter, with notes of grain, caramel, flowers, grass and a touch of earth. The flavour begins with a slight caramel sweetness but becomes moderately bitter towards the end. The finish is long, dry and bitter. On the palate, it is medium in body with a watery texture and flat carbonation. Overall, this was a very nice pale ale with caramel and a nice English aroma. The dry, bitter finish was the highlight, but altogether a nice beer for autumn. 2010-10-29
