3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Draught at SBWF. Black appearance with a small tan-coloured head. Deep sweet aroma of sweet chocolate, caramel, vanilla, coconut and sappy figs. Smooth and sweet (but not overly so) flavour of cocoa, vanilla, blue plums, caramel and sweet chocolate. Long finish with a subtle bitterness of chocolate but the sweet flavours of cocoa, vanilla and caramel dominates.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20
Draught at SBWF 2007. My notes say that this tasted very, very brown. Beautiful chocolate and vanilla come together seamslessly. I like that the grain bitterness is so subtle, makes for a very enjoyable stout.

4.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
UPDATED: SEP 30, 2007 (Draught) Pours dark brown to black. Creamy chocolate and vanilla up front in the aroma with lesser tones of plums, roasted grain, salt liquorice, asphalt and a touch of coffee. Fat and creamy nose. Dark creamy chocolate and vanilla ice cream in flavour with light notes of prunes but also some more subtle fruits in the backgrund. Also some hints of coffee, mint and maybe some sal ammoniac. Chocolate lingers with some hop bitterness and some roasted grain bitterness. Fantastic velvety and creamy mouthfeel. Medium bodied. No other chocolate stout comes close to this fantastic brew. Now make this Imperial…
