Commercial Description:
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Pours inky, oily black with nice lacing and a brown, short-lived head. Smells of chocolate, coffee, marshmellow, and toasted... something. Tastes of chocolate, graham cracker, toasted marshmellow... mmm, s’mores.... and vanilla. Has a really odd mouthfeel, almost foamy, like cool whip or how i’d imagine shaving cream would feel if you ate it. Very big and in-your-face, this beer is f***in ace.

Very dark chocolate black with a nice fine lighter tan head. Lots of chocolate in the aroma, there’s a bit of a roast/burnt note also. The body on this thing is interesting, amazing? It’s dense but not thick, not sticky, it’s really very interesting, not something I think I have experienced before. Again lots of chocolate with a hint of vanilla to round it out, the roast is there again. The finish is dry...well, not dry...I’m not sure how to describe it, kind of like that feeling you have if you eat bakers chocolate. The flavor lingers a bit even though it’s not really coating. At first I feel like this isn’t really anything special but it is amazingly tasty and very, very interesting. Deceptively awesome?

12oz bottle thanks to Daknole. Pours a rich dark brown, almost black with a light tan head. Nose is huge cacao nibs, tons of vanilla and a bit of roast and caramel. Flavor is slightly roasty up front but this fades away to rich liquid chocolate and a massive and tasty vanilla finish that just lasts forever. Another amazing beer from this great brewery. Hard to believe this body is on a regular stout. Most impy’s aren’t even close to this good.

Bottle, bought @ Vinens Verden, Odense.
Pours pitch black with a large, firm, creamy, beige head. Aroma has smoke, cocoa-powder, dark chocolate, light coffee notes, roasted malts, a touch of liqourice and fine, elegant vanilla sweetness. Low carbonation, fine creamy and light mouthfeel. First impression is chili or pepper, but otherwise flavour is powdery cocoa, roasted malts, sweet vanilla, bitter, coffee and dark chocolate notes. Really stunning dry bitter aftertaste with lots of cocoa and milk chocolate. This is an amazing taste explosion at 6,5 %. More taste and far more elegance than most Imperial Stouts ever muster, far beyond most regular stouts. Stunning.

Bottle. Pours a dark brown colour with a firm light brown head. There is lots of sweet chocolate in the aroma but also weak notes of vanilla and alcohol. The flavour is sweet chocolate and vanilla, slightly bitter and notes of roasted malt. Its a little watery on the palate and really not my thing.

12-oz. Thanks, glouglou! Pours jet black with a comically gigantic creamy tan bedrock of mousse atop the beer. Thick sheets of foamy lace. Just looks decadent and delicious in every way. Humongous milk chocolate candy bar nougaty nose. Just sweet and delightful. You can hardly believe it’s only 6 and a half. Creamy medium body with present but understated carb. Plenty of milk chocolate and mild roast on the mid-palate. Long milk chocolatey finish. Can hardly wait for this one to be a regular fixture on the local scene. Great, great, great stout.

Bottle @ Den stive jyde fra Skive’s shop, Odense. Pours pitch black with a small creamy head and lacings. Lots of Belgium chocolate. Reminds me of Rogue chocolate stout. A bit of vanilla. Smooth and easy. Ends dry and bitter. Its good . . . But not the best stout out there!

11.2 oz bottle via trade with daknole, thanks bro. Pours a deep dark black with an ample foamy dark beige head. Aroma is subdued and not what I was expecting. What is there is a Tootsie Roll scented chocolate dominating most of the aroma with softer notes of vanilla extract and grains. Flavor is better then the aroma with a bit more vanilla coming through, chocolate, raostiness and coffee gronunds adding in the roasted burnt flavors. Medium bodied with rather strong bubbly carbonation. Just like Peche Mortle loses a lot from keg to bottle I have a feeling this one does as well. Gonna have to head back up to Montreal and get some of this one tap directly from the source. Still a very good beer regardless.
