Pours deep black with a light brownish tan head. Nose is jam packed, with notes of chocolate coffee, rich roasted malts and perhaps a hint of vanilla. Taste is incredible, rich, coffee, lots of burnt dark chocolate and coffee, this is one hell of a stout and its awesome to finally have this beer. Even after the sourish sweet beers I just had this brew rides out on my tongue and cheeks and just sits there and says "ahhh, amazing!" Jblauvs (574), Manchester, New Hampshire, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 29, 2009 Motor oil pour with nice tan head and nice lacing. Aroma is chalk full of chocolate, and some coffee notes, some vanilla, smoooth. First mouthful is absurdly good. Smooth bitter chocolate and loads of vanilla. it is silky smooth in my mouth. the finish is a little dry and the vanilla lingers on the palate. Incredibly balanced. So enjoyable I’m almost at a loss for words. Sublime JesseM (666), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 20, 2009 Updated: Sep 3, 2009341mL bottle from a trade with Lubiere, thanks Luc! Artwork on the bottle is just great. Pours a pitch black with a small tan head. No light getting through. The aroma is very fine, sharp cocoa, chocolate/toffee malts, only a subtle hint of vanilla, but quite nice. Nice but not anything mind blowing. The flavour is not at all in line with the aroma, perfect roasty bitterness matched with dryness from the cocoa and sweet chocolate malts with more vanilla. Everything is blended perfectly well together. Awesome! But the palate is the best part, thick yet utterly smooth, it just slides down the throat elegantly. Aftertaste has a lot of astringency in it and almost a hint of rummy booze though it’s very fleeting. Lingering flavour of awesomeness. Liquid silk. This is probably the best balanced stout I’ve ever had. Well, it’s not making me submit to myself sexually, nor anyone else around me, so the name is bit odd but this stout is almost perfect for what it is. mreusch (728), Olathe, Kansas, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Jun 17, 2009 341ml bottle with a big thanks to Glouglouburp for the hookup! Man, I’ve been wanting to try this for so long it’s not even funny, so thrilled to hear its bottled now. Pours a dark brown that sits black in the glass, and a large foamy tan head that lingers for a long time and leaves a good coat of lace as it dissipates. Aroma is inviting, with creamy milk and dry bittersweet chocolate, cocoa powder and vanilla in harmony. Flavor is stellar, with a great fullness to it, and more creamy milk chocolate, some bittersweet chocolate, cocoa and a hint of vanilla. A drier finish but far from chalky. Wow, definitely not disappointed on this one, and it found a way to exceed my high expectations. Great stuff, thanks again Dany! craftycarl21 (552), South Hero, Vermont, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Jun 16, 2009 Updated: Jun 29, 2009On tap at DDC. Inpenetrable creamy beige head, tight to the glass, black color; really beautiful. Aroma is heavy on chocolate, vanilla, and cream- true to the brewing ingredients, and also has good roast qualities. Flavor is fantastic; milk chocolate, cream, and vanilla- not a ton of roast, but great sweetness, and well balanced. Not overdone in any direction. Palate is excellent, clearly not as heavy as an impy, but ever so smooth. Phenomenal brew. oteyj (757), Canterbury, New Hampshire, USA

Black pour with 1.5 finger beige head that forms tiny lasting foaming bubbles. Lacing is nitro-like in its quality. Aroma is loaded with vanilla, dark chocolate, and massive quantities of roast, which is augmented by the creamy chocolate. Epic amounts of milk chocolate, vanilla, and a backbone of sweet roast. Coffee, cream, chocolate and vanilla prevail. Palate is very thick and full, culminating with a semi-dry, semi sweet coating finish. Simply masterful.

Pitch black, thick creamy brown head speckled white head. Interesting taste - milk chocolate, sour edge, milky finish. So much flavour at this ABV. A great session stout and one of the best stouts, imperial or otherwise, I am likely to try. Did not disappoint after years of looking for it! matt7215 (966), Cambridge, Ontario, Canada
