Wow, this is excellent! Pours a thick black with a tan head. Nose is toasted malt, vanilla, cocoa. Taste is more of these flavours, solid bitterness from the roasted malt and dark chocolate. Perfectly balanced.

Sample from bottle. Black. Roasty. Some fruityness that seems familiar, but not sure really what. MEdium body, slight watery. Nice though, like a black roasty drink that has a hidden fruity core.

Bottle @ sbwf13. Poured black with a brown head. Sweet oatmeal notes, spicy with chocolate cake. Flavor has dark chocolate, mild coffee, with bready notes in finish. High drinkability, albeit quite thin.

Black pour with a thin tan head, Aromas of roasted malts and cocoa. Flavor is malt forward with cocoa coming through nicely in the finish and notes of vanilla. Not as rich and robust as I would like but still a respectable brew. Very drinkable

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Rich black pour with a thin head that fades almost immediately to bare lacing. Aroma and flavors match well; all chocolate with a long finish of coffee, with a good, sweet approach and a long dark chocolate finish.
Despite it billing itself as cocoa and vanilla, the vanilla notes are very reserved and pleasant, presenting themselves mostly in the approach on the tongue.
A little hoppier than I’d like; lingering dark chocolate bitterness.

On tap at Brothers in Ottawa. Wow! Amazing nose on this, the most enjoyable nose i’ve ever experienced, and the flavour doesn’t disappoint either. Definitely holds it own against St. Ambroise Oatmeal and other world class stouts.

Nose is brilliant. Burnt brownies, cinnamon and brown sugar. Otherwise the beer falls a little flat. Literally and figuratively. It had a very flat lack of carbonation and the flavor was a mild cocoa bitterness, but not much else. Just okay.
