Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Bottle. Thanks to SlovakSniper for this one. Fairly thick, dark brown pour with a small, medium-brown head. Sweet aromas of chocolate, vanilla, caramel and a touch of booziness. Flavour is less sweet. Cocoa, vanilla, roasted malt, and some very subtle but rich notes of coffee, nuts, smoke and dark fruits. Nice rich creamy texture. Brilliant stout.

341ml bottle. Pours jet black with frothy dark team head. Aromas are awesome, vanilla hits you first then cocoa and chocolate and then coffee and some oak. Tastes of vanilla, bitter chocolate, espresso, some nuttiness, resin even a bit of dark fruit. A smooth even slightly oil mouthfeel which finishes with a lingering bitter taste. This is a tremendous beer.

pours black with medium, brown head. Aromas of roasted malts, dark chocolate, espresso and vanilla. Flavors resemble the nose, with the roasted malt and cocoa leading the charge, but the vanilla is present. nice rich mouthfeel, smooth and silky with a nice bitter finish. Fan-freakin-tastic.

341 ml bottle, from a Quebecois co-worker. ABV is 6.5%. Black colour, low tan head. Strong and pleasant aroma of cocoa and vanilla. The flavour is not very sweet, but has plenty of cocoa powder and vanilla, with strong coffee and bittering hops in the finish. No aphrodisiaque effect detected - maybe I am immune?

Complex aroma of chocolate, coffee, vanilla and a hint of malt. A rich ebony colour with a well laced short lasting head. An amazing dark chocolate taste, with a complex palate of phenols, espresso and a hint of bitterness and smoke.

Opaque black, thin cappuccino head. Mild aroma of cocoa powder, vanilla, sweetened coffee, toast, and some metallic undertones. Not too sweet, but rather thin and flat. Decent carbonation, smooth, and a light chocolate finish
