COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

(Stockholm Beer Festival 2007) Draught. Black, small brown head. Huge chocolate and cocoa aroma, vanilla and oaky notes. Chocolate flavor, quite roasted and a bit dry. Was there some mint notes as well?

(Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 21 Sep 2007) Black colour with brief pale brown head. Roasted nose with notes of chocolate, cocoa, vanilla and slightly oaky hints. Roasted taste with chocolate, cocoa, vanilla and a distinct cocoa bitterness in a fairly dry finish. Medium body. Great balance, loads of different tastes, but in perfect harmony. Lovely stuff!

Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival. Very black. Striking cocoa aroma. Medium sweet with clean mouthfeel. There’s som plums and lots of chocolate. Fairly light bodied. Well balanced and quite mild, only the cocoa really sticks out.

UPDATED: SEP 13, 2007 Medium creamy offwhite head. Seemingly opaque dark red body. Smoky cocoa and vanilla aroma, very mild and balanced. Deep yet mild dry cocoa and vanilla taste, fantastically well balanced. Sweetish. Dryish cocoa and hop aftertaste. Beautiful! Incredible that they managed to balance it so well. (0.275l draft.)

Draught - pint glass. Hits like a good stout, but fades in a wash of vanilla. Friends who like stouts love this beer, as do friends who normally hate stouts.

Dark brown color, with beige long lasting head and a lot of long lasting lace. The taste is of a rich mocha chocolat coffee. You can also taste some bitterness that just makes it even more inviting. The near perfect stout.

Aroma of espresso, dark chocolate and some nuttiness too, darkest brown, a finger of foamy long lasting tan head, some very pretty lace. Huge roasted coffee flavour, loads of dark chocolate and brazil nuts. Extremely well balanced, medium bodied, creamy, smooth, bitter and dry.Fabulous!! Incredibly too easy to drink!

UPDATED: SEP 21, 2006 Draught (nitro, I asked). at the bar in heaven, I mean Dieu du Ciel. Very deep ruby, clear, with a large, lasting, creamy beige head. Rich, sweet-yet-bitter aroma of strong mocha coffee, some hazelnut, with sweet light roast malt, chocolate, yeast and milk solids. Solid creamy mocha flavour, lots of hop bitterness, nowhere near as sweet as I expected it to be, only a small vanilla bean tang to it, has a long rich balanced finish. Mouthfeel - Lord this is a nice beer, felt perfect on my palate, thick, sweet, lightly carbonated, just a hint of acidity, with a long finish. Terrific sweet stout. My scawled not says "hooo - baby! that’s f’in nice!"

Tap. Hazy, dark brown with fine fine creamy (finger thick) top. Aroma was very soft, velvety. Chocolate, cacao beans. Soft yet very rich juicy nose. Medium, full bodied. Plate dominated by soft textures, roasted grain and soft bitterness of raw cacao. Munich malts were used as well? Light yet very rich. Impression of chocolate dipped drink. Very good for chocolate lovers in cold fall nights.
