Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2007-09-22, 7-3-7-3-14=34
Black color. Phenolic aroma, sweet, roasted malt. Medium body strength, but round, with a unique flavor of dark chocolate. Monodimensional, good, not impressive.
Draught at Stockholm Beer Festival, 2007-09-21, 7-4-7-3-14=35
Black color. Strong aroma of medium chocolate. Sweet flavor, medium-light body, very strong chocolatey flavor (reminds me the chocolate Easter eggs), original. Good.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle at Churchkey. Black with a dark brown head that settles quickly to an edge and leaves delicate lacing. Aroma of chocolate bon bons and vanilla. Flavor of sweet milk chocolate, like Hershey’s syrup, with vanilla and cinnamon. Slightly bitter edge. Fascinating.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal. A lovely looking black beer topped by a creamy, finger-thick tan head that lasts. Nice curtains. A bit weak on the nose I think, with chocolate, vanilla and some mocha. Full to medium body, rather smooth on the palate. Chocolate, mocha and a roasted touch in the flavor, lasting for a long time. Rather lovely this one, even though the aroma could use a bit more punch. 150612

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Chriso’s Kook Tasting 09. Thanks to Crosling for this one. Labelled as Aphrodite. Black, tan head. Vanilla choc coconut aroma. Slightly powdery choc. Quite a lot of vanilla,, but I thought it was drinkable enough, just too much powdery choc. Dry finish. Yes, fails a bit in the mouth.

Bottle @ Den stive jyde fra Skive’s shop, Odense. Pours pitch black with a small creamy head and lacings. Lots of Belgium chocolate. Reminds me of Rogue chocolate stout. A bit of vanilla. Smooth and easy. Ends dry and bitter. Its good . . . But not the best stout out there!

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Opaque black, very small brownish head. Cocoa powder aroma with hints of vanilla. Cocoa powder and coffee beans in the flavor. A bit too much dark chocolate in the aftertaste for my liking.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
A: The pour is a dark brown color with a massive tan head and a ton of carbonation.
S: The nose is rich and chocolate filled. Great sweet milk chocolate notes, vanilla, and a more subtle roasted character and a dark caramel note as well.
T: Like the nose, plenty of sweet milk chocolate, cocoa, and vanilla. A more pronounced roasted flavor along with some slightly burnt notes.
M: The body is medium with a fairly high carbonation that actually works alright.
D: Not quite as good as Peche Mortel, but still nice. Definitely overcarbonated, but a vigorous pour and some time in the glass helps to smooth that out.
