Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Dark/black and redish color with fine head. Heavy chocolate aroma and flavor. Some banana and a bit weak palate, but overall great stout.

Black with a medium, tan head, some lacing, and a chocolate, cherry nose. Mildly-carbonated with a creamy mouthfeel followed by a milk chocolate, vanilla extract, cherry, dark roast coffee, dry finish.

Its body has a very dark brown burnt wood color which only allows light to seek through at the edges. The pour produces a tall and thick chocolate milkshake like head. This tall head slowly settles to a thin tightly packed cap of foam that makes lots of lacing on the glass. The aroma is deep and full bready yeast notes, toasted grain, powdery cocoa, wet leaves and damp earth. Its medium to full body has good mix of roasted malt sweetness with hint of bitterness from both roasted malt and hops. Up first are chocolaty cocoa powder notes on top of toasted bready grain and earthy yeast with the slightest wet old woody presence. In the middle I pick up light vanilla bean notes as well as a light cream soda like flavor notes. This moves into the finish which adds dark roasted coffee and earth leafy hop bitterness. On the palate it has a smooth creamy feel with mellow carbonation.

Dark black, opaque, dense, medium, tanned head. Aroma of vanilla, cocoa, a bit of coffee and a bit of tobacco and spices. At first, taste of cocoa/chocolate, then roasty-bitter, vanilla, a bit hoppy. Fizzy, medium body, long lasting roasty taste. The finish is quite similar to a peaty malt whiskey.

BOTTLE. Shared RW. Poured jet black with small tan head. Malty aroma, with vanilla heavy up front & rolled into a lovely creamy mocha finish. worth the wait to try this! Sourced Cellarbrations @ Capel

Just a slight cut below DdC’s other big Stout, the Peche Mortel. Dark engine-oil brown-black with a thin and vanishing crema coloured cap. Coffee, vanilla, dark chocolate booze and roasted malt waft up and atom. It’s definitely a dessert beer, it’s sweet but not cloyingly so and the hint of booze is rounded out by heavy vanilla and chocolate. It’s a thick, oily tongue-coater with mild carbonation. Babe! Schwing!

Mondial des bières. Couleur noire, bonne mousse beige. Fort nez chocolat cacao, parfum vanille, note de café. Gout chocolat cacao doux, note vanillée. Super légère et cremeuse, ronde en bouche, belle balance. Sublime!

Deep dark brown with a tan lacy lasting head. Deep smell of dark chocolate with coco and lots of sweet malt. Taste of sweet chocolatey and dark malt, with soft cherries. Nice and complex with a biter sweet chocolatey finish. Usually such a taste would only be found a higher abv beer.

Vanilla and slight cocoa and malt aroma, pours black with a small off white head, strong flavour of vanilla, I found the it sulphary bitter on the pallet on the tart side, I did enjoyed it but not my favorite interpretation of a stout

Bottle from my local supermarket. Served in an antique crystal snifter. It has a fantastic rich cocoa aroma, not as complex as I expected but just great. A soft velvety texture with round carbonation and a medium body. The taste is very rich cocoa, vanilla, roasty, chocolate, savory umami richness.

Noire d’encre, petit collet brun de fines bulles. Aromes superbement équilibré entre chocolat, la vanille et malt rôti. Le palais est relativement rond et onctueux, l’amertume cacaoté du final est assez longue sans être sèche. Hummmmmm
