Commercial Description:
Black ale with aromas and flavours of vanilla, dark chocolate, bourbon and roasted malt. The vanilla and cocoa marry nicely, without out-competing each other, to produce a surprisingly well balanced beer. This beer is mildly hoppy, but the cocoa introduces a touch of bitterness. Its colour may be intimidating, but it is a very smooth beer within reach of most beer drinkers. This highly appreciated dessert beer is brewed with organic fair-trade cocoa and first rate vanilla beans.

Aphrodite. Black body with a small tan head that fades quickly. The aroma has some chocolate, raspberry, cocoa powder, and cinnamon. Roasted flavor, coffee bean, bakers chocolate, and some light vanilla. Medium body.

Sample at the "From Russia With Suds" tasting on 01/02/10: This brew pours black with a light brown head that diminishes slowly. Large patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, vanilla beans and coffee. Rich body with a strong roasted malt and chocolate profile. Flavors of mocha, black cherry and vanilla as well. The finish is dry and roasty with a lingering coffee aftertaste. Hard to find much wrong with this Stout overall.

Bottle. Blackish beer with a tan head. Chocolate and vanilla aroma with sweet malt. Milk chocolate flavor with light roast, vanilla, and sweet malt. Medium-plus bodied. Milk chocolate lingers with sweet malt and vanilla.

drank out of pint glass. pitch black with a thick moka head that creates a heavy lacing throughout the beer. aroma is chocolate, vanilla, and roasted malts. a milkshake at 6.5% abv! like the label says, this beer is a beautiful marriage between chocolate and vanilla, though i do think the chocolate is a bit more apparent. thick on the palate, medium carbonation, an almost silky mouthfeel. this is my favorite "everyday" beer, the kind of beer i have in my refrigerator at all times. the only stout better than this one, is aphrodisiaque fresh from the tap at Dieu du Ciel!

Bottle from a trade with Boutip. Viscous black pour with light brown head. Lots of chocolate and vanilla in the aroma. Flavors of roasted malts, bittersweet chocolate and vanilla. Medium to full body with soft carbonation and a creamy mouthfeel. Excellent. Thanks Phil.

Bottle. Pours near black with a thin tan head. Sweet and roasty aroma with notes of milk chocolate and vanilla. The flavor has roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla, and caramel. Delightful.

351 mL bottle. Deep chestnut brown with a lovely tan head. The aroma is lovely and complex - roast, vanilla, milk chocolate, and licorice. Much the same for the flavour, except that the chocolate comes to the front a little more, and there is only a hint of licorice. Nice balance, though. Slightly grainy mouthfeel. Good body and carbonation. Incredibly appealing beer.

chocolatey flavor and medium sweetness. great texture, a little thinner than the average stout. not especially complex... everything tastes good but there aren’t a whole lot of flavors at work. overall a very good stout but nothing special

A big fat thanks to nbutler11 (I think) for this appearance. Nose is full, dry, almost tart coffee. There is the faintest rounding of flavor - as with vanilla or nibs - but mostly this is more tart and concentrated than even Peche. Jet black, whose flavor is stark like a brick with charcoaled coffee and not much else. I missed the faint hops, cocoa and v-beans.
