Tasty brisk and bracing IPA. Light orange colour, not much head. Citrus hops are the main story here, outmuscling the solid malt backbone.

In short: A generously dry-hopped golden IPA. Me love hop juice
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear burnt golden body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is very hoppy aromatic with a fresh and vibrant explosion of leafy and floral hops. There are the usual citrus and piney notes too but mainly the hop aroma is a big bouquet of juicy floral hops. Taste has plenty of toasted oily cereals, smooth liquefied caramel, fresh citrus fruits juice. Generously hopped by APA standards with resinous wooden, floral and citrusy hops. There is a lot of hops juice in there, this beer was certainly generously dry-hopped. Taste-wise this is more an IPA than an APA and that’s totally ok with me. I could drink pints and pints of this beer and then wake up the day after with a weird woman in my bed. Same as when I stay sober. My wife is weird.

Note: 6+/10

Tap. Light to moderate malt notes of light bread and roasted, light pine, dough and sweat for the hops and yeast, with background notes of sour cherry, wood and faint dried fruit. Head is average size, rocky, with good crusty lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is clear copper red. Flavor is moderately acidic to start and finishes lightly acidic and bitter. Palate is light to medium, watery with a lively to fizzy carbonation. The aroma is a little bland and a bit off but the flavor is pretty nice in this American Pale Ale.

A golden amber ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, a smooth nutty caramel with herbaceous notes, and light British hops. In mouth, crisp caramel malt with grassy herbal British hops, light floral notes, lingering bitterness, nice. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 24 2012.

Bang on pale ale, enjoyed on tap at DDC. Smooth orange citrus. Medium brown coloured body with lots of lace. Neutral aroma. Very good drinkability. Medium mouthfeel, very smooth.

On tap at Dieu du Ciel prior to our trip to the ice cider Mondial. Pours a clear pale amber with a thin white head. Toast, chewy malt, and big earth on the nose. Earthy and chewy with sweet malt notes. Hops, caramel, a touch of nutty malt. Long smooth earthy malt.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and spicy hoppiness fuse from aroma to finish, as citrusy hints and wooden bitterness complete this well-sculpted Pale Ale.

Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam covers the clear copper.
-Aromatically-speaking, this is not necessarily reminiscent of an APA.
-Like in most DDC beers, the mouthfeel is as polished and cushy as can be. Definitely one of their strengths.
-Malts contribute as much as the hops flavor-wise.
-I was expecting more hop fruitiness because the board said ’American Pale Ale’.

On tap at the brewpub.

Amber-copper color, with a thick beige head, mild floral pineyness, grassy, coniferous hop nose with a nice citrus, lime, lemonn, tangerine rind, soft toasty, caramel, biscuity malt accent, with a hint of fruitcake in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, light fruitiness, good flowery soapy, leafy, grassy, piney hoppy character with some subtle earthy tobacco leafiness, faint nuttiness, toasted, caramel malt flavours, with a lemom, lime, grapefruit peel, coniferous undertone, leading towards a zesty citrus peel, great leafy, grassy, piney hop bitterness finish.
