Hazy amber. Thin bubbly head. Aroma is toasty, with lots of caramel and toasty malt. Quite hoppy with woody notes and light citrus. Still a fair amount of malt coming through, mostly with a toasty bent.

A golden amber ale with a thick frothy lacing mocha head. In aroma, a smooth nutty caramel with herbaceous notes, and light British hops. In mouth, crisp caramel malt with grassy herbal British hops, light floral notes, lingering bitterness, nice. On tap at brewpub, Feb. 24 2012.

@Mondial de la Bière 2012, Montreal - cloudy copper-amber beer under a long lasting beige foam; shows a strong flowery hoppiness with notes of wood and almonds; quite full-bodied; assertive; fairly bitter and slightly astringent; long flowery hoppy finish; quite dry and with lingering fruity tones too

Bang on pale ale, enjoyed on tap at DDC. Smooth orange citrus. Medium brown coloured body with lots of lace. Neutral aroma. Very good drinkability. Medium mouthfeel, very smooth.

My Bottom Line:
Toasted malts and spicy hoppiness fuse from aroma to finish, as citrusy hints and wooden bitterness complete this well-sculpted Pale Ale.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam covers the clear copper.
-Aromatically-speaking, this is not necessarily reminiscent of an APA.
-Like in most DDC beers, the mouthfeel is as polished and cushy as can be. Definitely one of their strengths.
-Malts contribute as much as the hops flavor-wise.
-I was expecting more hop fruitiness because the board said ’American Pale Ale’.
On tap at the brewpub.

2012-06-07. Dark amber, small beige head. 3+ First sniff of the aroma has a ton of hops, the second less so. Interesting hop profile, sort of leafy/cannabis like character to it. Modest bitterness in the flavour, more of the leafy cannabis like green hops as in the aroma. Average plus palate. 3+ Okay, a decent IPA but the leafy green hop character is not to my own tastes. On tap at Mondial, 2T, Montreal

On tap at Dieu du Ciel prior to our trip to the ice cider Mondial. Pours a clear pale amber with a thin white head. Toast, chewy malt, and big earth on the nose. Earthy and chewy with sweet malt notes. Hops, caramel, a touch of nutty malt. Long smooth earthy malt.

In short: A generously dry-hopped golden IPA. Me love hop juice
How: Tap at brewpub
The look: Clear burnt golden body topped by a medium beige head with medium retention
In long: Nose is very hoppy aromatic with a fresh and vibrant explosion of leafy and floral hops. There are the usual citrus and piney notes too but mainly the hop aroma is a big bouquet of juicy floral hops. Taste has plenty of toasted oily cereals, smooth liquefied caramel, fresh citrus fruits juice. Generously hopped by APA standards with resinous wooden, floral and citrusy hops. There is a lot of hops juice in there, this beer was certainly generously dry-hopped. Taste-wise this is more an IPA than an APA and that’s totally ok with me. I could drink pints and pints of this beer and then wake up the day after with a weird woman in my bed. Same as when I stay sober. My wife is weird.

Draught at Mondial de la Bière 2012, June 7. Pours a cloudy copper with a spare diminishing frothy tan head. Good hoppy aroma with catty & spicy hops, backed by caramel malt. Flavour is bitter and quite hoppy, again with malt in the back. Average to medium bodied. Pretty good.

[4449-20120607] Tap. Woody orange stem hops aroma has a kick of smoked floral wood. Hazy, brown amber body with a quick foamy off-white head. Muted citrus peel wooden hops flavour has a bitter wood aftertaste. Medium-full body. Quite a tasty bitter. (8/3+/8/4/17) 4.0
