COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Brewed only once a year to keep you warm during the cold winter months, the Blanche Neige (« Snow white ») isn’t your typical wheat beer. Firstly, the level of alochol is surprising and is perceived rapidly both in the bouquet and in the mouth. The spices come through immediately, giving very little room for the usual wheat beer aromas (coriander and curaçao). Cinnamon and clove dominate and the flavours are generously well-rounded thanks no doubt to residual sugars. It is therefore a very sweet beer that is best appreciated slowly.

Pours hazy gold into a tulip. Bright white head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet apricot and bubblegum aromas. Slick with bubblegum and yeast upfront turning dry in the lasting marshmallow finish.

Bottle received in trade. Thank you pushkinwow! Pours deep golden with a rather small offwhite head that quickly dissipates without leaving much trace in the glass. Smell is sweet, phenolic, estery and very spicy with wheat crackers, banana bread, cloves, nutmeg, cinnamon, hay, pepper corns and hints of alcohol and lemon zest. Taste is slightly bitter, phenolic and very spicy with wheat crackers, bergamot, banana bread, alcohol, nutmeg, pepper corns, cinnamon, allspice, cloves, hay an lemon zest. Mouthfeel is round, spicy astringent and medi bodied. Finish is bitter and spicy with banana bread, white bread, hay, spices, lemon zest and hints of wood. Way to spicy to suit me. First Dieu du Ciel beer I wasn’t impressed by. Serving it with sushi saved it a little.

Draft at DdC with Streets, Ricky, Andrew, PJ and Brendan. Pours a deep brown body with thick off white head. Aroma is malt, yeast, spice, light nut character and some candy. Mouthfeel is medium with notes of yeast and malt upfront, some sugar, toffee, caramel and bread. Not bad, not great - but a decent beer.

341ml bottle bottled Jan, 2013.Pours a hazy golden colour with a half-finger, white head that thins fast. Slight sediment but the bottle is a bit old.Aroma is noticeable. Clove, cinnamon, slight bread, and a bit of sugar. Taste is bitter with a peppery spicy finish. Medium body and carbonation. Slightly syrupy in the mouth with a bitter aftertaste. Overall interesting but not really my thing. The aroma is very Belgian but the taste isn’t what I expected. A bit too much spice for me. Might get again to try a fresher bottle.

Slightly cloudy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is punchy spices - cloves, yeast, coriander seed, malt. Flavour is yeasty, spicy, bitter orange and herbs. It’s an interesting mix for sure - very complex, and a bit of alcohol warmth in there as well.

There were a bunch of these at my local retailer so I thought I’d give one a try. From St. Jerome Quebec, this beer is a great holiday brew. As you can see in the label there are cinnamon and cloves added for flavor. You can certainly tell that they’re in there as soon as you open the bottle. It is really good for the first half of the bottle. The flavor just sort of sits there in your mouth by the end of the bottle though but it’s probably the light hoppiness mixed with the cloves that seems to get a bit stale. Anyway, for Christmas Eve I’d say sure, I’d pick up 4 of these for the family but I’d stock something else for the rest of the night.
