Brewed only once a year to keep you warm during the cold winter months, the Blanche Neige (« Snow white ») isn’t your typical wheat beer. Firstly, the level of alochol is surprising and is perceived rapidly both in the bouquet and in the mouth. The spices come through immediately, giving very little room for the usual wheat beer aromas (coriander and curaçao). Cinnamon and clove dominate and the flavours are generously well-rounded thanks no doubt to residual sugars. It is therefore a very sweet beer that is best appreciated slowly.

Slightly cloudy gold with a thin white head. Aroma is punchy spices - cloves, yeast, coriander seed, malt. Flavour is yeasty, spicy, bitter orange and herbs. It’s an interesting mix for sure - very complex, and a bit of alcohol warmth in there as well.

There were a bunch of these at my local retailer so I thought I’d give one a try. From St. Jerome Quebec, this beer is a great holiday brew. As you can see in the label there are cinnamon and cloves added for flavor. You can certainly tell that they’re in there as soon as you open the bottle. It is really good for the first half of the bottle. The flavor just sort of sits there in your mouth by the end of the bottle though but it’s probably the light hoppiness mixed with the cloves that seems to get a bit stale. Anyway, for Christmas Eve I’d say sure, I’d pick up 4 of these for the family but I’d stock something else for the rest of the night.

I think one’s opinion of this beer will depend on how much one likes the taste of cloves. This beer smells fantastic but I can’t say its taste lived up to the aroma for me. The cloves are really dominant with the cinnamon present mostly in the aftertaste. There is a full malt to counterbalance the spices but they are still pretty dominant. Not really my taste in beer but I do appreciate that it is well done.

ours a hazy golden-orange with an average size diminishing white head. Fruity aroma along with spices and mild hops. Flavour’s sweet and yeasty with a good amount of spices, a bit of maple syrup and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied

Draft - Clove and cinnamon dominate. Clear gold with a thin head. Clove and spices with a bitter bite. A bit over the top on spices but if you like clove and cinnamon you are going to enjoy this. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
