Commercial Description:
Brewed only once a year to keep you warm during the cold winter months, the Blanche Neige (« Snow white ») isn’t your typical wheat beer. Firstly, the level of alochol is surprising and is perceived rapidly both in the bouquet and in the mouth. The spices come through immediately, giving very little room for the usual wheat beer aromas (coriander and curaçao). Cinnamon and clove dominate and the flavours are generously well-rounded thanks no doubt to residual sugars. It is therefore a very sweet beer that is best appreciated slowly.

9mo aged cask at the brewpub, DDC 9th anniversary Appearance: Hazy gold with low lingering head. Aroma: Distinct nutmeg and cinnamon with an alcoholic nose. Apricot fermentation esters. Flavour: Dry and cidery. Apple pear and apricot. Lots of fermentation esters from a warm fermentation. Mouthfeel: Thin bodied and spritzy. Overall: Kind of like a thin bodied wheat version of an abbey beer.

1/18/08 notes: on tap DdC. This was my favorite amongst lighter beers that night. Aroma of wheat, fruit, cloves and other spices. Features a grainy mouthfeel of medium thickness. Spicy flavor of clove, cinnamon, nutmeg and some malt. Great beer, the spice is contained nicely by the grainy wheat. A real treat to drink.

Draught. At Dieu du Ciel. Pale clear gold pour with a small white head. Aroma was spicy, fruity and lightly yeasty - like a pungent saison, very fragrant and clover-sweet. The taste was apple, alcohol, spice and sweet, sweet malt - good, warming. My note on mouthfeel: "alc! - sugary ... 3" - had a fairly long, moderately boozy sweet finish.

Draught at Dieu du Ciel! Pours a hazy golden-orange with an average size diminishing white head. Fruity aroma along with spices and mild hops. Flavour’s sweet and yeasty with a good amount of spices, a bit of maple syrup and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. This is very tasty stuff, I really enjoyed it.

Draught (6 oz. sample) at Dieu du Ciel! Dark golden with a small white head. Aroma has a whole lot of cinnamon, with background notes of cloves, yeast and dark sugar. Flavour has a lot of cinnamon as well, with a subtle fruitiness, and a balanced finish. An interesting beer that I wasn’t sure of at first, but ended up enjoying.

On tap at DDC. Dark yellow, medium white head, looks terrific. Great aroma - very spicy, some dark fruit and sugar. Fantastic taste - tons of yeast, light wheat, ginger, alcohol. Very spicy! Full bodied. Really nice.
