COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer style was created in the late 1990s by some breweries on the west coast of the United States, and most notably by Rogue. Its an extreme version of the American IPA. Its a beer with strong amber hues and dominating hop flavours and tastes. It is however well balanced through the presence of a combination of malts. This beer is usually dry hopped, a tradition that is adhered to by Dieu du Ciel!. The bouquet of the beer consists of floral hops. In the mouth, the bitterness is quite strong, without being extreme, and the alcohol makes its presence known, without being domineering. The aftertaste is dry and less syrupy than a barley wine. Thus, it is a very complex and bitter beer, but always well balanced.

Bottle: Thanks to Pushkinwow: Mine said 9% alcohol. Medium vast off white (with a light yellow tint) head that disappears slow, on top of a hazy warm and darker orange colored beer. Smell hops, pine, resin, citrus, light honey, some sweets, roosvicee, rosehip, barleys and light sweet malts. Taste good hoppy and creamy with citrus, pine and yeasty tins. Well balanced. Medium bitter. Also hints of grass, pine apple, light peach, light dry. Tasty, balanced and not too much. Herb hoppy grassy light bitter aftertaste. Low to medium carbo, soft and light tingly mouthfeel, full body and a creamy texture. The alcohol is not noticeable, nice! Overall a good beer with nice balanced creamy body.

Translucent copper-orange with a small but sticky beige head. The appealing aroma has lots of citrus from the hops, but also a strong note of caramel from the malt . The flavour is great, with strong bitterness from start to finish, some of which seems to come from the alcohol. The cara-malts are well represented. Alcohol is very apparent in the finish, but its pleasant. Great body. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

341ml bottle listed at 9%ABV pours a pale amber color with a big off-white head which settles slowly leaving some elegant lacing on the glass. Aroma is floral and citrusy hops with some toasted malts. Taste is floral and citrusy hops balanced beautifully with a malty sweetness and a hint of alcohol. A very nice DIPA with a medium body and adequate carbonation. Highly recommended.

Thumb up!

Mondial de la Bire 2011, Strasbourg - cloudy copper-orange beer with a decent head retention; a solid flowery and fruity hoppiness (peach/apricots); full-bodied, some sweetness and a robust bitterness; long hoppy flowery and fruity finish with notes of warming alcohol

Bottle at The Only. Foggy orange color looks unfiltered. Smells pretty good, lots of flowery and citrus hops going on. These hops play into the taste, which is surprisingly rounded and fruity but not sticky. Finish builds a notable bitterness. Very easy drinking and not a stunt beer kind of DIPA. Liking this and will re-visit.
