COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer style was created in the late 1990’s by some breweries on the west coast of the United States, and most notably by Rogue. It’s an extreme version of the American IPA. It’s a beer with strong amber hues and dominating hop flavours and tastes. It is however well balanced through the presence of a combination of malts. This beer is usually dry hopped, a tradition that is adhered to by Dieu du Ciel!. The bouquet of the beer consists of floral hops. In the mouth, the bitterness is quite strong, without being extreme, and the alcohol makes its presence known, without being domineering. The aftertaste is dry and less syrupy than a barley wine. Thus, it is a very complex and bitter beer, but always well balanced.

12oz bottle scored via trade with pushkinwow. Could be an older bottle, but that doesn’t usually bother me too much with these malt forward DIPAs. Pours a hazy orange with some creamy, lacing white head. Nose of tropical fruits, candy sugar, pineapple, orange peel, a little leather, pine wood shavings, soap. Flavor is sweet, malty, orange, soapy, pine, tropical fruit, candy sugar. Full, sticky finish. Not the freshest, but still tasty.

Hazy dark orange colored pour with a tall off-white head. Fairly fruity nose. Citrus and peach, some light tropical fruit, grass, and floral hops. Moderate caramel sweetness, some bread, and toasted malt. Flavor is mostly just sweet and malty. Minimal bitterness. Some grapefruit and peach fruit character, mild tropical sweetness, and a nice floral quality. Mild pine note on the finish.

341 ml bottle.
Pours an unclear golden colour with a white head. Aroma of gooseberry bush, nettle and some sweetness. Flavour of strong bready maltiness, gooseberries, strong hops, spruce and sweet caramel. Medium bodied, slick mouthfeel and high carbonation. Finishes sweet, malty and bitter. Too sweet and malty for an DIPA.

34,1 cl bottle (9%) @ lusikka, bottled 05/2012
Aroma is sweet with exotic fruits, gooseberry bush and fruit sugar. Flavour is sweet with exotic fruits, some fruit sugar, caramel malt and hints of alcohol. Rather typical American‐style DIPA – and too sweet for me.

Bottled 05/2012 - Pours dark orange with a small head. Aroma of dark fruits, hints of gooseberries, biscuity malts, caramel and fruity hops. UPDATED: AUG 31, 2012 Bottle from Wvrst. Pours hazy amber, with a thin white head. Aroma of raisins and hops. Taste also has raisins and hops, with a distinct spiciness, and some alcohol. Balances sweetness and bitterness nicely. Nice full body with good carbonation. Another winner from DDC.

341mL thanks to JulienHuxley. Pours a hazy, deeper orange. Thick, yellow, rocky, creamy foam erupts with huge formation and infinite retention. Massive lacing. Infinite retention. Nose is cheese, dust, carbon paper. Taste is dense melons, sweet squash, white sugar, denser noble hops, lemon candies.
