COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This beer style was created in the late 1990’s by some breweries on the west coast of the United States, and most notably by Rogue. It’s an extreme version of the American IPA. It’s a beer with strong amber hues and dominating hop flavours and tastes. It is however well balanced through the presence of a combination of malts. This beer is usually dry hopped, a tradition that is adhered to by Dieu du Ciel!. The bouquet of the beer consists of floral hops. In the mouth, the bitterness is quite strong, without being extreme, and the alcohol makes its presence known, without being domineering. The aftertaste is dry and less syrupy than a barley wine. Thus, it is a very complex and bitter beer, but always well balanced.

Light orange pour with a white head. Flavor is fruity and malty up front followed by a light hop presence. Belgian style IPA in my opinion. A bit too much malt and the hops aren’t fresh tasting.

Bottle from Mane Liquor. A little disappointed with this. Very resinous and sticky with heavy focus on sweet fruits. Quite boozy too. Not what I would have thought it would be. Possibly not fresh at all

Pours a pale orange with a very thin off white head. Aroma is floral hop and sweet malt with hints of citrus and metal. Flavour is alcohol, more hop, sweet crystal malts. The body is surprisingly barely medium, it makes this very drinkable in that respect. Usually a beer this big will be heavy on the pallet. But the flavour is a real letdown, it seems like there should be a bit more there, just not intense for an imperial. Finish is very balanced to slightly sweet.

Bottle from LCBO, Toronto. Pours clear orangey-yellow, off-white head. Fades. Nose: honey, mild booziness, dried apricot and orange. Taste follows these scents. Very well balanced and pleasant carbonation. Some toffee stickiness and resinous finish. Quite drinkable for its 9% ABV.

Bottle at Beer Revolution. My first super hoppy DDC beer. Clear golden pour with a bubbly white foam, spotty lacing. Citrusy sweet, mild floral hops on the nose.. Mouthfeel crisp, mild alcohol warmth, low-medium carbonation. Taste is sweet orangey lemony notes with the spicy tang and hoppy bite lingers into the finish. Well balanced for 9%. Superb

light amber pour with a nice sized off white head. Aroma of caramel and floral hop notes. Huge alcohol notes on this. Honestly, not much going on really and I expected more from a Dieu Du Ciel beer. Still, not bad.

Bottle. Pours an amber colour. Nice, fresh grassy aroma. Tastes the same - grassy, citrusy with a sweet chewy boozy thing happening too. It's very well balanced the booze doesn't take over. Really enjoyable. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
