On tap at Mondial de la bière Montréal 2015. It pours a dark brown body under a creamy two-finger dark beige to light tan head leaving lacings. Roasted malts, coffee, chocolate and in a strange yet good way, barnyard and manure in the aroma. It’s very smooth on the palate, dry and full-bodied, with bitter chocolate, coffee and roasted malts in the flavor. Less of the manure-like touch than in the aroma. Lasting finish. An unusual but sure fine brew. 150611

Draught at Steel Toad, Vancouver; 250ml
Rich in chocolate and roasted malts, moderately sweet in the front, more roasty in the final; resiny bitterness. Full bodied.

341 ml bottle. Pours a ruby reddish dark brown with a thick, resilient beige head. Aroma is hickory, smoky, salty, woody and ashy. Flavor is chocolate, coffee, meat, salt, pepper. Finish is oldish, smokey, mineral, chocolatey. Lingering roast, coffee, chocolate. Light to medium body, weak to average carbonation. Great!

Pours a very dark brown color (Close to black), with a pretty large beige head. Nose is coffee, caramel, molasses , smokiness and black licorice. Amazing nose. Not very sweet, Medium dryness. You also get some tartness a bit. Quite well balanced. Medium to full body. I like it

October 19, 2013 - gravity cask at Cask Days 2013. Inky light black pour (yeah, I don’t know what I meant either) with a smallish lasting frothy tan head. Wow, that aroma is amazing - dry, roasty, nutty, not at all sweet, roast malt for days - reminded me of a hay bale drying in the sun, quite dusty and herbal - nice. Taste follows, some barnyard funk and even more bitterness - doesn’t not show the ABV one bit - amazing. Average body, slick and a bit sticky (tons of malt here), weakly carbonated, long burnt-bitter finish; grabs the palate and holds tight - but not overpowering, just long - great stuff.

341ml bottle. Pours a fair amount of foamy brownish head and has a deep dark brown appearance. Ok lacing. Aromas of burnt malt, mild coffee and hops. Has a woodsy aroma as well. Flavours are quite sweet, some strong coffee notes as well as light chocolatey hints and some earthy hops. Subtle hints of vanilla in the finish. Good retention. Has a slick and oily mouthfeel. Good stuff!
