Deep black color, with a creamy tan head, with a mild earthy grind coffee bean, vegetable floral leafy, grassy hop nose with a light chocolate baking bar, faint acidic fruity rhubarb accent, and a roasted, chocolate, toasted malt note in the aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a smooth black coffee, subtle sharp vegetal fruity rhubarb acidity character, with some roasted, chocolate, toasted malt, faint dark bitter chocolate flavours, leading towards a nice roasty bitterness finish.

Interesting brew ! Pours a deep burnt umber with khaki foam. Nice chocolate roast up front with layers of earthy malt, bakers chocolate, light acidity from the rhubarb keeps the flavor interesting and unique, almost fresh coffee like but a bit more citrusy and vegetal ! Unique.

[Draught at Mondial 2014, Montreal] Pours a very dark brown, almost black, with an average size semi-lasting frothy beige head and lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt first and foremost followed by chocolate and rhubarb. Flavour: Wow, that’s nice: Roasted malt along with an interesting fruit flavour, it’s kind of tart or something, hard to describe but I like it. Average bodied. Really good and interesting.

The base stout is quite nice. Upfront roasty malts, notes of cocoa, coffee, you know.....a well made stout. Ok, now in comes the rhubarb. I dont find its adding much to the aroma, or flavor, but it is adding some tartness that is quite interesting in the aroma and finish.

tap at mondial 2014, mtl. clear dark brown pour with a nice creamy light beige head, good retention and nice lacing. lean torrefied and roasted maltiness, clean and distinct rhubarb and grapefruit - aromatic but never perfumey, bitter coffee and minerals. moderate carbonation, light body - could be stouter, lightly tart - citric - and medium long grassy-bitter coffee finish. an a priori reluctance - very pleasant and interesting concoction.

Draft: Poured a dark black color stout with a large brown foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma consists of light smokey notes and roasted malt with clear notes of rhubarb. Taste is also dominated by clearly vegetable notes of rhubarb and some roasted malt with a dry finish. Body is about average with great carbonation. Interesting novelty but not sure I would seek this on a regular basis.

Pours jet black with a mocha head Aromas of dark chocolate, coffee grounds, with an undercurrent of freshly cut rhubarb. Tastes of rhubarb with a smidgen of grapefruit and dark roasted chocolate. Overall a wonderful variation on a traditional stout.

HopsandBolts (86) - Ontario, CANADA - JUN 14, 2014
Pours an opaque black with two fingers of tan head that slowly dissipates. Rhubarb and dark malt aromas are followed by strong rhubarb and burnt malt flavours with a hint of prunes. A very good and very different stout.
