Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

Bottle at home. Pours a hazy Amber with a slightly off white head. Light caramel, light veggie funk, lemon, grass, light herbiness aroma. Medium carbonation, medium body. Caramel, lemon, wood, orange, rye, toast... It's OK. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle from Craig and Lisa last year at Christmas. Been in the cellar for more than a year. Lovely reddish brown with thin tan leather head with nice lacing. Strong biscuit and hop and caramel aromas, with similar flavours. Full, smooth mouth feel. Bitterness in the tail end, but not too much. This is really good.

Bottle. Pale amber color. Pleasant hop aroma, floral, nectar, fruity and a little citrus. Taste: malty, sweet nectar, fruity, good hop bitterness.

Notched 3 and 8. Pours a very cloudy brown with a high level of suspended matter. Below normal head volume, lacing and retention. Nice nose of caramel, toasted malt (somewhat grainy), sweet ripe fruit esters (stone fruit, grape) and very little hop influence. Heavy light body that is smooth. Normal carbonation with a bit of mid-palate effervescence and a fair burst in the finish. The flavor profile is less than average for the style - not bad, but note quite good either. It has a slight caramel note throughout and bitterness is rather mild. An English Bitter hop flavor is present, but rather muted. The finish is a lingering English Bitter hop flavor that seems a bit off. I won’t buy this again.

Couleur cuivré, belle effervescence avec une mousse présente qui colle sur les paroi du verre. Goût caramélisant côtoyé par le sucre brun! En bouche nous y détectons une présence plaisante de pin et d’agrume!

UPDATED: JAN 15, 2016 From a bottle. Dark red, sharp bite. Not overly flavorful but you can taste caramel flavors. Not too happy in a bad way.

341 ml bottle from a dépanneur in Gatineau.

Appearance: Pours an opaque dark brown with a bit of tanish head.

Aroma: Pine, grapefruit, melon.

Flavours: Pine, grapefruit, melon, lemon, biscuit.

Mouthfeel: Rich with average carbonation.

Overall: Really nice IPA with lots of the usual pine and grapefruit but it also has some malt biscuit coming through.

The malt in this smells and tastes not very good. It’s old and sweet and unpleasant. It’s too bitter and the red ale aspect just makes it less flavorful and less appealing.

Pours a very short beige head with deep hops and iron aromas. Clear Amber colored body. Balance is more achieved than with rescousse, with similar roasted grain flavors but compensated with high bitterness and hops. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
