COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Corne du diable (French for "Horn of the devil") is a contemporary interpretation of the classic English India Pale Ale. This new style, born on the west coast of North America, is characterized by stronger and hoppier beers. The result is a red ale expressing caramel flavours coming from the malt, sharp bitterness and powerful hop aromas, thanks to dry hopping.

341ml bottle. Unfiltered, rusty, iced tea look, moderate tan head. Herbal hops mostly, with some floral and earthy hops, with some caramel malt. Taste has more earth and citrus and less floral and herbal hops than the aroma. Hops and malts are nicely balanced. Body is full and dry. Overall, made me think this is what you would get if you crossed a strong dark Belgian ale with a traditional IPA. It rather works.

Tasted this back in March while visiting Montreal among many other beers purchased to bring back home. Dieu Du Ciel always interesting labels with interesting and delicious beers inside, often leaving you with more questions then answers after tasting there beers. This was another delicious one!

11.5 oz bottle. Pours a dark amber with an ivory foamy head. Aroma of floral hops, caramel, and more hops. Taste is just like the nose. Hops hit the palate first followed by a nice balance of sweet caramel malts. A bit of a metallic taste, and a bit sour. Kind of musky. Very dry bitter finish. An interesting one.

From bottle at Steamers. Really sweet nose, caramel. Big hops, fruity character. Malty and sweet. Deep dark amber, murky with thin off-white lacing head. Medium-heavy body with medium-high carbonation. Starts and stays sweet with tons of roasted grain, caramel and toffee. Mild bitter hop finish. Mainly toffee sweet with lingering nutty bitter after.

Bottle. Rated under duress due to Sloth’s insistent prodding that I don’t drink enough IPA’s. So this one’s for you buddy. Red ale, check. Healthy head, check. Hoppy nose, check. Sugary caramel body surrounded by hops in both nose and body, check. Dieu de Ciel continues to impress me. Yum. Sloth sucks.

Bottle 341ml - Semi clear amber beer with a large head. Aroma is fruity with notes of caramel, pine needles, citrus and toffee. Flavor is malty with notes of citrus, caramel, toffee and floral hops. Very sweet, but balanced beer with distinct english yeast tones.

Brown bodied with small off white head. Forest, grapefruit, farm malts, herbal hops. In between a classic ipa and black ipa. Really nice hop mix. Solid bitterness, juicy, sharp yet fittingly pleasant ending. Very well made, rich taste. Might sound boring but I just want to drink it. Yum. (Bottle from Abbaye de Saveurs)

Quite a bland IPA, very malty dominant and limited hop profile. Good balance, but not enough to carry this through.

Bottled. Pours light brown in color with a small off-white head. Lots of caramel in aroma, some sweet honey kind of notes as well. Soft mouthfeel. Sweet in taste, some light bitterness, bust mostly sweet burnt brown sugar perhaps. Hopped amber ale with a malty sweet caramel and grassy bitter finish.
