3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 BitchesBrew (713) - Oakland, USA - FEB 19, 2007
[pint at the brewpub, 5%] Earthy rye aroma, with some caramel malt and citrus hops. Pours a cloudy, reddish amber color. Mildly sweet malt flavors balanced with an aggressive APA hop profile. Rye adds an additional complexity to this already tasty brew.

Uneven but bitter as hell. Pretty sexy beer. Tastes like sour dough bread - it puts an awesome taste in there. Tracing is awesome and the rye does wonders for it. This was among the better tasters I had at the brewpub in Montreal last weekend. On tap.

Originally rated October 2005. Sampled at the brewpub, in company of S8n on September 17, 2005. Pours a deep amber-red colour with a medium creamy head. Very nice creamy lacing. Mild grain malt and alcohol nose. Syrupy and sticky mouthfeel. The rye comes out in the aftertaste with mild bitterness throughout. Notes of caramel in the finish. The start is kind of fruity. Nice grainy ale with lots of flavours.

Cask at Dieu du Ciel, Montreal. Amber hazy, small to average and mostly lasting head. Moderate, malty and sweetish aroma, fruitiness, some citrus and piney hoppyness, faint caramel. Body is medium, malty and lightly sweetish flavor, some fruitiness, some piney hoppyness, faint caramel. Finish is average, malty and dryish, faint fruitiness, bit sharp/soapy piney hoppyness. Nice one, but in the finish hoppyness is bit soapy -aroma/flavor not in balance.

Cask at Dieu du Ciel. Amber with a nice white head. Fresh hoppy aroma - lotsa floral hops. The flavour is more grapefruit than floral. Some spiciness, presumably from the rye. Decent malt backbone. Nice bitterness throughout. Good body.
